Mr. Clemens was returning in the evening from his beloved work. It was something about 7 pm, his book publishing house, where he earned his bread, was closed for half an hour, it only remained to get home. Robert Clemens, 45 years old, is the most polite and sensitive person in the world, at least the narrator sees him that way. Other people from his environment also considered Robert a real gentleman, who, moreover, looked like the embodiment of kindness and care. Don't take this hard, the author was excited and is trying his best to show you the appearance of the character. It was summer, but in America, for some reason, it did not want to fulfill its functions and there was cool. The beginning of June was surprisingly wet and frosty, the temperature did not rise above 48 degrees Fahrenheit. It rained almost every day, so there were gray puddles in the streets that looked like the sea during calm due to the wind. The gloomy atmosphere was hidden by the New Yorkers themselves, who constantly went somewhere, as if they had been programmed to go all their lives. Rob (he loved to be called that way) was a cheerful person, never discouraged, in public he tried not to show his weakness, which caused admiration of many of his colleagues and friends. Publishing house "Riptide" was one of the most successful publishing houses in America, by the way, it was called like that because of the owner, who loved the sea and everything connected with it so much. There was even a funny story: before the opening of the publishing house, discussions were held about the interior of the cabinets. The owner, being obsessed with sea waves, wanted to hang lifebuoys and anchors inside the offices, as well as make a sauna and a pool with instructors in vests and other ship uniforms. Thank God that there wasn't enough money for all this stuff and he had to be content with a simple and concise interior from IKEA. The publishing house was in a rather noisy area of New York. Rob had to go to work for about half an hour by subway or taxi, sometimes during summer on a bicycle. There were a lot of interesting people in the publishing house: men and women, young and old, eccentric and simple. Rob especially loved Chief Editor Forrest, who was on the same floor as him. Both workers were constantly hanging out together on and out of breaks. The jokes of this company were usually understood only by people with a tendency to schizophrenia and dementia, such as the author of this book. In general, Robert had more friends, but Forrest was closest to him. Very often, along with a couple of people friends had fun: walked in the parks, went somewhere, held celebrations at Forrest's house. In general, Robert Clemens's life turned out perfectly: calm and interesting work, loyal friends, some fame (after all, as you already know, the publishing house was quite successful). And here we come back again in that day. June 10, 7 pm, Clemens takes the subway and travels to the station, which is located near his house. The mood was, excellent, as always, Rob's vigor didn't disappear even after a working day. Having had dinner with delicious fried fish, Clemens decided to take a walk around the city and breathe in the fresh air. Wearing his black coat, Rob left the house. It was not necessary to go somewhere to find the perfect place for walking, because in this area the atmosphere is no worse than in parks planted with trees. Rob chose the right place to live, his house was not far from the forest. City noise was almost inaccessible to the ears. The only thing Rob regretted about was that he couldn't see enough greenery and feel the abundance of natural aromas, the metropolitan life drowned everything. Sometimes Rob became sad from this, but the work and daily routine made Mr. Clemens happy again. Rob went into a small square, where young people and couples with children were walking at this time. With his hands in his coat pockets, Clemens walked confidently along the tiled road. He was thinking about something ... About a new book? About friends? About the eternal? Everything at once, because thoughts kept him energetic and, in principle, kept him good old Mr. Clemens. On the way, Rob looked at the benches where restless teenagers sat and chatted and laughed. It would seem that there's nothing funny in the fact that the girl fell into a puddle due to high heels and tore the short skirt on her butt, but it was hilarious! It was very difficult to keep calm, but Rob remained more or less restrained. The author has the strange sense of humor, to keep your interest in the chapter, all the jokes, funny and not, will come later.America is very long: a faint sun has come out. Soft light lit up the whole space, even the singing of birds was heard. The real summer has finally arrived, albeit a little strange. Robert unfastened his coat and leisurely went home. It was gradually evening ...
