Introduction

"I'm Nora Reed," I say, agitated. I'm gripping the worn out chairs arms painfully and staring at the therapists fingers that are holding onto a yellow pencil. She looks at me waiting for me to go on.

When I first met her, she called her self Abbie, but the last couple visit she wastes our time making me say my name repeatedly as if it were a mantra. In fact I had said my name so many times I forgot who I was anymore.

"Nora," she starts. "We will keep doing this until I feel you are getting better."

I roll my eyes at her, annoyed at needing to repeat my name every few seconds, how was it going to help me in any way, it was pointless just like these sessions. I didn't need them, but apparently my Foster parents thought I did. So at 15 they signed me up. They always thought I was depressed because I couldn't see my mother and father anymore, and in a way they were kind of correct. Although, I'm 25 now, and the only reason these sessions have continued is because I signed a contract at 15 that I would continue until my therapist see fit.

"Say your name again." Abbie said in monotone, she was just as annoyed as I was with these endless session.

I groan. "I'm Nora Reed."

"Again," she motions for me to keep saying it.

"I'm Nora," I pause In agitation. "Can't we, I don't know, try a different tactic? This seems pointless."

Abbie sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. Her red hair falls into her eyes and she blows the pieces out of her face, before narrowing her eyes at me. The session room is usually a mess, but today it seems as though it's cleaner then usual.

Weird, I thought, Abbie hates when things are clean.

"No, Nora, this is my way and we are doing it my way," she tells me, firmly.

"Well your way seems to not be working! This is pointless. We've done this for 10 years, it's clearly not working. In fact these sessions have made me even more crazy. It's like your doing this for your own amusement rather then for the good of the paying client!"

She looks up at my standing body, surprised. "W-well I think this way is be-"

"But it's not better," I cut her off, glaring at her." Can't you see that this way is only making me angry rather then better. I know my gosh damn name! I was given this name when I was born, I've had it all throughout my 25 years of life! So how in your mind did you believe that repeating my name over and over again would help?"

Abbie tilts her head to the side. "Say your name, again."

My shoulders went limp, sighing I continued on," I'm Nora frickety fracking Reed."
