Max's P.O.V

It was early, WAY too early.

I had been peacefully sleeping in my new, very comfortable, bed when David had come in and cracked open my curtains; letting in the morning sun.

"Rise and shine kiddo!"

I groaned as I pulled the grey comforter over my head, trying to go back to sleep. "David! What the fuck! It's too early" I whined to the red head, extending out the end of the word early. David shook his head disappointingly at my swearing "language. We have a big day planned for us! So c'mon!" He spoke with his usual energy.

"But do we have to do it this early!" I continue to whine, moving further under the covers.

"Max. It's only 9:30 in the morning, we woke you up a lot earlier at camp Campbell."

I groaned again, hopping out of the bed begrudgingly. "Fine fine..fine! I'm up" I yelled, my voice groggily from sleep. David smiled going back out the room, he stopped at the door as he faced me "get dressed, come down when you're done for breakfast". David left the room after that, I stared at the doorway as he left. I rubbed my eyes as I changed out of my pajamas and into a pair of shirt and jeans, I also threw on my usual hoodie as I made my way down stairs.

The smell of bacon and eggs hit me as I entered the kitchen. I sat in the seat I was in yesterday and laid my head on the dining table. "It's nice to see you up and awake Max! Well kinda awake" the older man chirped. I hummed as a response, I lifted my head back up and reached out for the word search book I was filling out yesterday. I flipped to a new page and began going through the list of words, it seemed to be about historical figures since it had ones like "Benjamin Franklin" and "Karl Marx". I didn't care  much for what it was about so I just started checking off words as I found them.

Eventually David had finished cooking and placed a plate in front of me. I sat my pen down and picked up my fork to start eating.

When I was done eating, I headed back upstairs.

I walked into the bathroom, stepped onto the stool David brought out for me and began brushing my teeth. After I spat in the sink and placed the tooth brush back into the holder, I  stared at myself in the mirror as I attempted to morph my bed head into something presentable. I looked tired, I felt tired. I hadn't had the best of sleep last night and it was very apparent. "I hate mornings.." I grumbled to myself as I stepped off the stool and walked out of the bathroom and downstairs where the redhead had been waiting. I quickly slipped on my sneakers and we got into the man's pickup truck.

"So where are we going? You never told me."

The man was smiling like he usually was as he kept his glaze on the road ahead of him. "We're going to the mall to pick out some things for you." He said happily to me. I frowned "what kind of things?" I ask. "Y'know clothes, a few things to decorate your room and whatnot." He replied, still keeping his eyes ahead. I nodded quietly, not having anything to say as I looked out of my window and up at the sky. It was a brilliant bright blue that was covered in white puffy clouds, all of different sizes and shapes.

"How long are we going to be there for?" I asked suddenly, not taking my eyes away from the window.

"Only two hours, or I'm hoping it'll only take that long aways."

"Better be. Or else I won't let you live it down for like a week." I remarked bitterly. The man next to me chuckled, "alright Max."

--

David and I had stepped one foot into the mall and I already knew this trip was going to be unbearable.  The older man had thought it was a brilliant idea to go shopping to go shopping on a Saturday!
