A Summer True Love

Hi, so this is my first short story and I don't know what to expect from the readers. Hahah, but I just hope you'll like it! :)

Long time ago, there was a young girl whose name was Ashley, she’s not your average teenage girl, she was ugly and poor. She had a scar in her left side of her face beacuse of the tragic past she had. One day in her summer vacation in Florida, she fell in love with a rich, handsome guy or you can call your perfect dream guy, his name was Nate. Nate was called in his town as Prince. One night, their paths had crossed with each other. Ashley was again star strucked because of how handsome Nate was, while Nate was just staring at her beautiful green eyes, never made a disgusted look on her scar. Ashley just lowered her head because she was ashamed of her face.

“I’m sorry.” Ashley whispered. But Nate was just confused on why she said sorry. “Why are you apologizing?” asked Nate while touching her chin to tilt her face upwards so that they were now eye leveled. Ashley seemed shock on what Nate just did to her. “Aren’t you afraid of me?” asked Ashley who seemed confuse. “Why would I be afraid to a young kind hearted girl like you?” asked Nate, smiling. Ashley was now shocked, she never thought that this guy had also a good heart and that makes Ashley seemed to fall in love more with Nate. “I’m ugly. And how can you just say those things? You don’t even know me,” said Ashley. Nate just shrugged and said, “I can see it on your eyes and on your heart. And specially, you’re not ugly.”

After that conversation they never see each other again. Ashley can’t sleep in her nights because she just always thinks on what had just happened between her and Nate. While Nate was just the same as Ashley, he can’t take his mind off to Ashley’s green beautiful eyes. There’s just something about that girl. Nate thought to himself. He seemed to fell in love with Ashley that day. So what he did the next couple of days surprised Ashley.

Knock! Knock!  “Coming!” yelled Ashley while rushing to the door.

“Who’s there?” asked Ashley, but no one answered so she just opened the door to see a grinning Nate. “Hi!” said Nate.

Ashley felt suddenly self conscious of herself, “Uh, why are you here Prince?”

Nate frowned at her question. “It seems like you’re not happy to see me. And by the way, just call me Nate,” said Nate while smiling.

“And this is for you,” Nate handed a bouquet of flower.

Ashley was just confused but suddenly she felt her face was flushing. “Sorry I didn’t mean it like that and what are these for?” asked Ashley whose face was red as scarlet.

“Flowers for you, what do you think?” asked Nate sarcasticly and playfully.

“Yeah, I figured, but why are you giving me those?” asked Ashley who seem so confused at that moment.

“Oh right, I’m here to tell and asked you something.” said Nate.

”And what’s that?” asked Ashley.

“I like you.” said Nate.

Ashley went speechless, “Wh-what?” Ashley just stuttered.

“You heard me, I like you. I don’t care about how you look. I don’t care on what others will say about you, or about us. I just like you and I want to be with you. I meant it, Ashley. Now, can you be my girlfriend?” asked Nate hopefully.

“Y-yes,” and that’s the only word that left Ashley’s mouth on what Nate had just said. Her eyes started to water because she just couldn't imagine on what’s happening in her life right now, she felt very happy.

And after that, they lived happily together until they got old. Nate just proved to Ashley and to others what true love was and it was not just by the looks or by the social standard of a person that you can love; but on what how your heart truly feels.
