When the sun rises

It started that one day in august. The start of the new school year. All the children were sad that the summer break had ended yet it still felt warm out. The wind blew a pleasant breeze through the window.

The child looked in the mirror checking and rechecking her clothes. She was dressed in a deep purple blouse with a light blue tank top underneath. She had on denim jeans and her usual purple runners shoes. Brown hair done up in a messy bun with strands hanging down framing her face. All her friends were jealous of her fashion and wide variety of clothes but what they loathed most were her fiery eyes. Most the time they were a bright yellow but, if she was mad, they turned a blazing red.

Deeming her clothes acceptable Kensia walked out of her room. Picking up her backpack filled with pencils, binders, and her lunch she then hopped down the stairs. Passing through the kitchen to get a pop tart. Kensia said good morning and goodbye to her mom. Her dad had already left for work in the early hours of the morning. Nobody knew what he did for work but nobody ever questioned it because they had food and anything else they asked for.

Kensia walked to the front door and stepped outside to another beautiful day in the Brooks. The Brooks is a town in the foothills of Mt Kaminasi that has a river flowing through the center of town. Mt Kaminasi was a volcano but the evolonists shut off the magma flow so the crater in the top eventually filled with water and overflowed into one of many rivers that provide nourishment to many parts of the state. One of those rivers, The Brook, had large deposits of precious stones from the mountain and thus a town was made here. The weather was always perfect save for the few seasonal storms that were needed. It was never to hot but never to cold. Always perfect for the season.

Kensia ran down the driveway to meet her friends at their old morning bus hangout. When she reached the end of the drive her mom called out to her. "Kensia! Don't forget that you have to go to Phoenix Middle School instead of Brooks Middle! I don't want you to get on the wrong bus," she yelled.

That is when Kensia's day started to go downhill. She wouldn't be able to see her friends. Not in class, not on the bus, not at their usual hangout, not at all. She could tell today was not going to go well at all.

She turned left at the bottom of the drive instead of last year's right. She walked with no friends on her way to the bus stop instead of walking with all her friends like last year. When she got to the bus stop Kensia noticed that there were already three kids there. A short boy with short cut brown hair, an average girl with blonde hair and a Starbucks in one hand and an iPhone in the other, and a taller boy with gelled, black hair. All of them looked like they hated the others guts. All of them looked very easy to manipulate. Kensia walked up to the girl and said in her sweetest voice possible, "Hi there, i'm new to the bus and haven't seen you before. What's your name?"

The blonde looked shocked that someone new was there. However she did mumble out an "I'm Julia" before she turned her back and walked off a bit from Kensia. Kensia thought nothing of it because she new she had already gained the high rank on the girl by just talking to her. Next, she went to the short boy.

"Hi there, i'm Kensia. Nice to meet you." said Kensia. The boy looked her straight in the eyes and she could see the suspicion in those swirling brown eyes. He simply scoffed and looked away, not even bothering to give a name. So she gave him one instead, one that she thought fit rather nicely: Bitchell. cause he seemed to be exactly like like that.

Kensia still had one final person to make submissive to her: the black haired, tall boy. She walked over to him and noticed that he was drawing something. When she looked over his shoulder she was shocked to see the drawing looked exactly like her. The boy swirled around to face Kensia having heard her sharp breath. He was about to yell at her when he noticed what she looked like. He too was shocked speechless. Kensia couldn't stop staring at the drawing in his hand and how every detail matched her down to the eyelashes.

The boy was the first to recover. "WHAT THE HELL!!! You actually exist!" he shouted. Kensia was too shocked at his outburst and words to respond so the boy just went on. "I just though of you, and I drew you, but i've never even met you! How the hell does that happen?!?"

Kensia responded with the only thought that had remained intact during the shock: "Hi, i'm Kensia. Nice to meet you, i'm new here." Internally she just face punched herself for saying something so stupid as an introduction and not: Why were you drawing me? or possibly What are you doing drawing me you creepy stalker! Kensia was about to say both things when the bus arrived and she ran for the doors to try and asure herself a seat in the back. The boy was left there standing with his mouth gaping and the drawing still in hand. But soon he too turned and got on the bus.
