The Rogue & The Alpha

Chapter 1 - The Blonde Rogue

Natsu's POV

Today was just like any normal day in the Fairy Tail pack. Erza was enjoying some strawberries with Jellal watching beside her, Cana was drinking some wine made from alcoholic grapes, Gajeel was picking on Levy and Elfman was shouting how 'wolfly' he is. Now, you might be asking 'what is Natsu doing?' Well, I'm busy fighting with one of the Betas, Gray.

We had our foreheads pressed up against each other. "That was my rabbit and you know it" I growled. "If that was your rabbit then why was it in my food pile" he growled back. "You're such a food thief!" I growled. "You're a food hog! If I was blind I would've thought you were a pig!" he growled. "Did you just call me a pig?!" I growled louder. "I did now what are you going to do about it?!" he growled back as loud as I was. I was about to pounce on him when someone shouted "ENOUGH!" The voice came from the scary blood red wolf named Erza who is the other Beta. We whimpered with our tails between our legs and our ears pinned back. "How many times have I told you boys not to fight?" she scolded. "Sorry ma'am" we replied and she sighed.

"Anyway, Alpha we are running out of meat in the food den. I suggest we hunt for some more today or we won't have enough for everyone tomorrow" she said while she looked at me. Yes, you read right. I am the Alpha of Fairy Tail. "I want all the available hunters to assemble right away" I replied and both Erza and Gray nodded before running to gather the hunters.

In the pack we have five levels, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Omega. The Alphas are the leaders of the pack. At the moment, I am the only Alpha since I haven't found a mate to join me and become Alpha Female. My two Betas are Erza and Gray, they are my righthand wolves. After Beta we have the Gamma wolves, they take care of the pack if myself and the Betas are away from the territory. The Gamma wolves are Loke and Jellal. The rest of the pack are Delta wolves. The Omega is a temporary title that goes to the wolves who disobey or fail to defeat the Alpha in a challenge and currently no one is an Omega.

Other than the five levels, most wolves have a job within the pack. The five jobs are Hunter, Gatherer, Healer, Patroller and Tracker. Trackers is a special job for wolves with the best sense of smell which is given to Gajeel, Laxus and me. Some wolves have multiple jobs including me. I am a Hunter, Patroller and Tracker.

Soon Erza and Gray came back with the rest of the Hunters. The Hunters beside me are Erza, Gray, Jellal, Juvia and Gajeel. Everyone was accounted for, "alright, I want Erza and Jellal to hunt in the North. Gray and Juvia to the South. Gajeel to the West and I'll take East. Be back by sunset. Good hunting everyone!" I said and we ran in separate directions towards the part of the territory I ordered. The East is great for catching rabbits so I shouldn't have too much trouble...I was wrong. While chasing a light grey rabbit that I spotted, it did a quick right turn and I accidentally crashed into a tree headfirst. "Ow, damn rabbit! Come here!" I shouted as I chased after it again. After a lot of running, I finally caught the rabbit.

I noticed I ended up near the border between Fairy Tail and the Outlands where the Rogues roam. Rogues are wolves with no pack. Packs don't like Rogues because they're dangerous. Some were banished by their packs for murdering another pack member and those Rogues are branded with a scar over their eye.

Suddenly I heard a painful whine coming from behind the bushes near the border. I put the dead rabbit down quietly and lowered my body into a fighting stance. A growl grew from the back of my throat. 'Who dares come near Fairy Tail territory' I thought. I stalked around the bushes to face the intruder and then my eyes widened at the sight of a beautiful blonde female wolf. She was laying on her side inside a hole in a small dirt cliff underneath an oak tree. I noticed she was badly injured with bleeding bite and scratch marks all over her body but no scar over either of her eyes.

Her eyes turned to see me and she began to whimper. 'She's scared of me' I thought as I noticed her shaking in fear. Something deep down told me she was no danger to me. "Are you going to kill me?" she whimpered. "No" I replied calmly and slowly walked closer to her so she didn't become more scared than she already was. "How did you get injured so badly?" I asked as I sat down next to her. She relaxed a bit but she was still cautious of me. "A group of Rogues with scars on their eyes tried to mate with me but I fought back. I managed to get away as you can see and then collapsed here" she replied. She then grimaces in pain and now that I was closer, I saw she had a massive slash across her side.

I thought about taking her to Wendy but I don't think my pack would like a Rogue coming into pack territory. As I was thinking, I noticed she looked a tad too skinny and my mind went to the rabbit I caught. I trotted over to where I left the rabbit and brought it back to her. She watched me as I put the rabbit in front of her snout. "Eat this. It'll help you regain your strength" I said and her eyes widened a bit. "Why are you helping me?" she asked, curiously. "Well I don't think you're a threat and I don't like the idea of leaving you here to die" I replied with a smile. "Thanks" she smiled and weakly lifted her head up to eat the rabbit. "What's your name?" she asked. "Natsu. What's yours?" I asked. "Lucy" she replied. I felt like this was the start of a good friendship between me and Lucy.
