Mistie ended up sleeping through the entire class, her nights being sleepless most of the time and she ended up missing her bus... Again. If Mr. Edison hadn't awoken her, she probably would have been there all night, or until a janitor noticed her, which wasn't all too uncommon.
"Excuse me, miss?" He stood in front of her desk and with a yawn, Mistie raised her half asleep gaze up Ed's body until she realized she was staring right at his crotch. Her eyes shot open wide and she quickly looked up at his face, regaining her posture as her bangs fell back in front of her right eye.
"Ah - I-I'm sorry!" She stumbled over her words, her cheeks slowly turning red. She gathered her books and stood, beginning to leave, but was stopped when Ed had grabbed her arm. She turned slightly to look at him from the corner of her eye, too embarrassed to look at him directly.
"Sit back down, just for a moment," Ed asked gently as he pulled a chair around to sit opposite of her. Mistie set her books back on the desk, and slowly took her seat once more. Hunkering down, she kept her gaze low, asking a simple question, "Am I in trouble..?
"No, you aren't in any trouble. I get it, being so tired you can't help it," Ed chuckled, and scratched the back of his head before he continued, "I wanted to thank you for earlier, when I bumped into you - and apologize - because you helped gather my books and you were kind despite my dumbass, tripping over my own feet," he sighed softly, "And you didn't have to." Mistie looked up, noticing the bags under his eyes. He must have long nights too, with no sleep due to his work. Mistie didn't realize she was staring into his eyes, and Ed looked down, his cheeks flushing a light pink. Mistie's ears perked a bit as she realized what she was doing and she blushed too, looking at her watch to see the time. With a heavy sigh she looked out at the now setting sun, having long missed her bus, and definitely missing supper. As if reading her mind, her stomach growled, and fairly loudly, causing the stallion seated across from her to laugh a little.
"Were you a bus student?" Mistie nodded in response to his question, as her cheeks grew hotter. Ed stood up and held a hand out, giving a shy smile, his cheeks a bright pink, probably matching Mistie's as she sheepishly took his hand and stood as well.
"Let's go get something to eat, miss...?"
"Mistie. Just call me Mistie. It's a pleasure to meet you by the way," She blinked a few times, her voice soft and shy.
"Well, Mistie, let's get you something to eat. And the pleasure is all mine."
