Chapter 11: Letting Go

I stood on the porch of Isa's home. Waiting for Hunter to show up. Isa had made sure Tony was gone from the house so we wouldn't run into eachother. For that I was thankful. I knew that even if he didn't want me hee with him, he wouldn't let me go. But I had to get away. I wasn't even sure if I could face him.

A pick-up truck pulled up in front of the house and suddenly Hunter was in front of me pulling me into his chest. "You okay?" He asked. This was... well, weird for me. Hunter never really showed any emotions, so this was a giant leap for him.

"I'm fine. Can we just get out of here?" I asked, while Hunter tucked me into his side and opened my door for me. Just as hunter began putting my bags in the back of the truck Marks Guardian pulled up. "Oh, shit." I ducked down in the seat, but it was useless. Tony sprung from the car even as Hunter straightened up and took his stance in front of the truck door.

I didn't dare look up from my knees. I could hear Tony and Hunter arguing. Then I heard Tony demand me out of the truck. I pretended I  couldn't hear him. But the tear that I wiped away betrayed my interest.

Hunter finally got Tony to calm down. I tried to hear what he said, but I couldn't tell what he said.

Tony's Pov

"Tony, she needs time. You know I'll take care of her. She's my sister, Tony. You know how Dr. Rochelle was running those tests? We found out that she's my half sister. I'll take her home. To our pride. She has to learn what she really is. She has a father Tony. A Real father. Let her have time to grow up there." I felt my heart drop to my stomach.

"What if she doesn't want to come back?" I asked mostly to myself but Hunter only stood his ground.

"You left her afterwords, didn't you." I dropped my head. "You teated her like one of your whores didn't you?" Hunter snarled, "I should kill you."

"I may ask you too." I paused. "Can I say good-bye?" Hunter observed me.

"Fine, but after today no contact. After today, if she doesn't contact you first no Contact. Don't make me regret this." Hunter glared     at me. "Two minutes."

He walked away from the car up on the porch with everyone else. I took  a breath and opened the passenger door. She didn't look up.

"Nikole," I asked. She didn't move. "hunter is going to take you somewhere else for awhil-"

"Tony, I don't want to talk to you. Please, just let me leave." she managed to get out. "We could have talked earlier... Why didn't you come back?" She asked brokenly.

That was a good question. At the moment I'd thought it was for the best- but now I realized I'd done what was best for me. She had every right to be angry. I was just about to answer when Hunter came out of the house. I looked up at him and back at Nikole.

"Call me, please. I'll answer anything you need me to." I promised.

Hunter got in the truck, "You had that chance last night." She spat. And then she pushed me away and pulled the door closed. Hunter drove away and once again, I was alone. Isn't that what I'd wanted?

I felt my heart squeeze painfully as I realized This wasn't what I wanted. At that moment, I made a promise, from now on I wouldn't be selfish. Not when it came to Nikole.

Nikole's Pov

As we drove away I felt my heart race and I reached for the handle to get out, but Hunter caught my arm. "No, you can't always let him have his way. Distance makes the heart grow fonder right?" Hunter asked quietly as he rolled his eyes dramatically.

"I hope not." I murmured, pathetically.

Hunter smiled a bit at that. "You'll be alright, kid." he promised wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

"Why are you being so... different?" I asked wiping my eyes.

"I have a lot to tell you Niki. And it's well, pretty big news." He answered.

    "What is it, Hunter?"

"Dr. Raimi isn't your father." Hunter said softly.

"Then who is?" I questioned looking up at him.

    "Mine is." He answered.
