ii. Chapter 38: "Rhodes!"

Spider-Man was on top of a airplane jumping over Giant-man's hands that were trying to grab him, "Hey guys, have you ever seen that really old movie The Empire Strikes Back?" Peter asks Into his comm all while shooting his webs at Giant-man to keep him distracted.

      "Jesus, Tony. How old is this guy?" Rhodey asks,

Tony rolls his eyes and replies, "I don't know. I didn't carbon-date him. He's on the young side,"

Spider-man swings around Giant-man, "You know that part where they're on the snow planet, with the walking thingies?!" He yells, hoping they get the hint Spider-man started spinning webs around Giant-man's legs.

     "Maybe this kid's on to something?" Iron man questions,

     "Go high, Tony, go high." War machine says frantically agreeing with his best friend.

War machine and Iron man flew high, they readied their Iron fists before uppercutting Giant-man causing him to tumble back. With the inability to move his legs- no thanks to Spider-man's webbing-he slowly falls back towards the wing of a plane. Peter was so distracted in his excitement-watching giant-man tumbling down that he doesn't see Giant-man's arm making his way towards him. Giant-man's arm tosses Spider-man into some boxes.

Giant-man presses a botton with his thumb thats located on the side of his index finger causing him to return to his normal size. Retracting his helmet he asks, "Does anyone have any orange slices?" Ant-man grunts in pain.

Spider-Man lays on the floor, facedown and unmoving. A concerned Tony lands beside him. Iron man retracts his helmet falling to his knees beside Spider-man, "Kid, you alright?" Tony asks reaching for his shoulder, Peter began freaking out, "Hey!" he yells tossing and turning trying to avoid Tony's hand.

     "Whoa!" Tony yells, "Same side. Guess who? Hi, it's me,"

Spider-Man takes a breathe of relief and slowly leans back on the floor, "Hey, man," He says.

     "Yeah," Tony says.

     "That was scary," Peter breathes out his mask only covering half his face,

     "Yeah, it was. You're done." Tony decides.

     "What?" Spider-Man asks trying to sit up, "I'm good. I'm fine," he says.

     "You did a good job, kid. Stay down." Tony commands.

     "No, it's good. I'm good. I gotta get him back." Spider-Man says quickly.

     "You're going home or I'll call Aunt May!" Tony says,

     "Dude." Spider-Man protests.

     "You're done!" Iron man says his helmet recovering his face before he stands up and flies away. Spider-Man tries to get up and follow him, but he  sinks back down to the floor.

The Quinjet lifts off the ground, it's wheels were slowly being drawn into the undercarriage. The Black Panther shakes off the last of Natasha's stun before he launches himself at the Quinjet. He tries grabbing onto something, anything to keep him with the quinjet, but it was no use with the slick design.The Black Panther manages to only touch wheels just before the undercarriage takes them, the Black Panther falls to the floor in anger as he watches the quinjet escapes through the gap.

T'Challa then looks at Natasha, "I said I'd help you find him, not catch him. There's a difference," she says.

Wanda lay on the floor, feeling the effects of the sonic wave Vision lands behind her, taking her swiftly in his arms. Wanda twists her body so she could look up at him.

     "I'm sorry." Vision apologizes

Wanda looks up at Vision, "Me, too," She says sympathetically.

     "It's as I said. Catastrophe," Vision says,

War Machine and Iron man begin to follow the Quinjet, Sam not far behind, "Vision, I got a bandit on my six." Rhodey says,

     "Vision! You copy? Target his thruster, turn him into a glider," Rhodey orders

Vision, fires a powerful beam from his forehead in the direction of sam' glider pack, The falcon dodges it, but the beam continues on and ends up hitting the War machine's Arc Reactor. Rhodey' suit makes at dead stop before plummeting, and he was trapped inside with no way to communicate with Tony.

     "Rhodey!" Iron man yells reverting his attention to his falling best friend, Sam also stopped following the Quinjet retracting his wings and dives after Rhodey.

     "Sarah, do you copy?"

     "I copy, sam," Bucky and Steve look over to Sarah.

"Rhodey's falling dead stick, we're not gonna reach him in time," Sam says frantically into her comms,

"Steve, open the hatch,"

"What?"

"I will explain later just open the hatch!" She yells and Steve complies one hand on the wheel while the other pulls the switch to open the hatch. Sarah holds on to a piece of the ship as the wind hits her. Steve stops the Quinjet, leaving it hovering in the sky this helps Sarah see exactly where Rhodes is.

Sarah's blue energy encases War Machine, "I got you Rhodey," Sarah says wrapping her arms around his metal suit "Sam, I got Rhodey. Stop diving, I need a ride...I'm teleporting to you," she says looking up towards him, "Wha-" before he could finish his question he finds her hand reaching out for his. He grabs it and is pulled down slightly by the weight of both War Machine and Sarah, "Ugh, you guys weigh a ton," Sam says,

Sarah rolls her eyes before teleporting The Falcon and War Machine to the ground. They land on their feet while Sarah places War Machine on the floor, "I had a big breakfast," she responds to his previous comment.

Sam narrows his eyes, "You're father told me that exact same thing once," he mumbles.

Eying him up and down, she asks, "You okay, Sam?"

     "Stop asking me that, you already now the answer,"

     "I'm sorry sam," She apologizes, "it was either you or Tony and I didn't have his comm frequency,"

     "Why?" He questions leaning over,

     "Teleporting with Rhodey at the same velocity that we were falling? let me put it this way if I teleport while falling, I'm still falling. So, Rhodey and I would've still went...splat. Get it?" Sarah explains and Sam nods the wave of nausea finally passing,

     "See you soon Sam," Sarah says, teleporting onto the Quinjet before Iron man could lands.

Iron Man lands, retracting his helmet into his suit. Tony doesn't care that Sarah teleported away at this point, Tony is more focused on Rhodey.

     "Read vitals," Tony orders F.R.I.D.A.Y after pulling off Rhodey's mask revealing that he is Unconscious, "Heartbeat detected. Emergency medical is on its way." F.R.I.D.A.Y. replies.

Tony lets out a breathe he didn't realize he was holding. Sam walks closer, "How is he?" he asks, Tony in his distraught state blasts Sam in the chest.

Vision passes Sam before landing, he is concerned about Rhodey for it was his beam that caused this.

Tony subconsciously places a hand on the War Machines arc reactor before looking towards the sky. There is no sign of the Quinjet anywhere.
