As she turned around ready to scream bloody murder, Tom covered her mouth before she could even let out a squeal.
- What in the world are you doing? Are you trying to scare me to death? - Aubrey whispered angrily.
- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you like that, it was just a joke and you just looked so into your own thoughts, I just figured I couldn't loose this oppurtunity. - says Tom as he giggles a little.
- Well congratulations, you did it, now if you excuse me, I'm going to bed.
- Aubrey wait. Are you ok?
- Yes, I'm just having a hard time falling to sleep, that's all.
- Oh, alright then, I'm 'gonna head to bed as well, good night Aubrey.
- Good night Tom.
As he was headed upstairs, Tom feels a cold breeze hit his neck. "Where is this coming from?" he thinks. He looks around and finds the back door in the kitchen open.
-Weird, I could've sworn that was locked. - he mumbles to himself.
He locks the door and heads upstairs.
Aubrey wakes up to many voices, noises, music, laughing and a delightfull smell of pancakes, but not just any pancakes, it was her grandma's special recipe, you could recognize them just from the distinct smell they had, honey, rasberries, blueberries, the smells of Aubrey's childhood.
The situation got her in a good mood, we all like to wake up to a tasty, freshly cooked breakfast right? She got up, made her way into the bathroom, turned on her "Oldies but Goldies" playlist and started getting ready. Took a shower, brushed her teeth, blow dried and slightly curled her hair until it looked flowy and wavy, chose a cute outfit, and left her bedroom feeling pretty good about herself.
You know what I mean, we all have those days when our self-esteem just peeks and we feel like we can take over the world. Being honest, I'm pretty sure we all want to feel like that all the time, you know? We all have insecurities that sometimes just make us want to hide from society just to escape the human cruelty and judgment.
Well Aubrey was just like that, a normal person, a normal woman, a normal and standard human. A human with insecurities that fought really hard to feel good in her own skin, maybe that's why people always opened up to her, because she was relatable. Who knows.
It's 9:17am, the Lowell's are all up and ready to start the day.
- Why do you all look so happy? It's barely 9am yet. - Easton mumbled in a cranky tone.
Well, everyone is ready, except Easton.
Aubrey walks in the dining room, everyone is having breakfast. Tom walks past her with a plate of pancakes that looked like it left a trail of a delicious smell just like in the cartoons she used to watch.
- Good morning sunshine! Did you get any sleep last night? - Tom asked caringly.
- Good morning Tom. I didn't get much sleep but your pancakes sure got me up on my feet in a heartbeat!
She gives him a kiss on the cheek and sits at the table. No one says anything.
- Well good morning to you too. - Aubrey states in a sarcastic tone.
- Hi dear, I didn't see you there. Did you sleep alright? - said Mrs. Lowell.
- Yes, mom, I'm fine. Anyway, what are you guys planning on doing today?
Morgan shouts:
- WE'RE GOING SKIING!!!
- Alright, that's enough sugar for you. - says Mr.Lowell as he takes the pancake plate away from Morgan.
- Will you join us sweetheart?
- Probably, I'll let you know dad.
Everyone finished their meal and started putting on their snow clothes.
- Remeber last night? When you were getting water in the kitchen?
- When you scared the soul out of me? Yes, I remeber.
- Yeah, sorry about that. But, before I went upstairs, I noticed the back door was open, was ir you who opened it?
- No, I didn't even notice it was open. I could've sworn I saw dad lock it after he got more fire wood.
- Yeah, me too. I just found it really weird, but maybe I'm exagerating.
Everyone was ready to head out to the mountains and ski. It wasn't currently snowing outsider but the entire ground was covered by snow. Everything from the tops of the trees to the snowy ground was just plain, pure, white. You wouldn't want to disturb the peace by marking the outstanding snow with, say blood, maybe?
*ok, that got dark, sorry not sorry, back to the Lowells now hehe*
They left the house, and as they were making their way up the mountain to reach the chairlifts, Aubrey gets the urge to go to the bathroom and decides to head back to the house.
- Be back in a second. I'll catch up with you guys later. - she said.
As Aubrey is making her way back to the house she finds herself wondering "This place is so beautiful, I should come here more often on my one, maybe get some peace for once." She got so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the house right in front of her and almost fell on the entry step.
She put her key in the door lock and instead of having to spin it twice, the door just opened instantly "Ok, that makes two doors that were supposed to be locked but weren't, what the hell?" although she is scared, she goes in telling herself it's all in her head and at the same time imagining the worst stuff like a cold blooded murderer was wating for her behind that door, just waiting for her to turn around to then stick a nife in her neck and kill her with no witnesses and a chance to get rid of all the incriminating evidence before anyone could even hear her scream.
But nothing like that happened, instead, she walked in, looked arround and saw no one. She only heard water running, it was coming from the bathroom upstairs, "Someone must have let it open, I need to close it before the entire house floods.
Oh, c'mon, you should more than know by now that Aubrey is VERY dramatic.
She makes her way to the bathroom and the door is closed, she goes in and suddenly the water stops and a man comes out of the shower.
Aubrey yells and runs out of the bathroom. Soon after, the mystery amn follows, he comes out of the bathroom with a towell around his waist, drops of water running through his perfect built abs that Aubrey can't stop herself from looking at.
He had what appeared to have dark Brown curly hair, beautiful green eyes and perfect teeth.
- Who the fuck are you? - Aubrey asks hysterically.
- Please, don't be scared, I can explain!
- Yeah, you better have a pretty good excuse for trespassing and taking a fucking shower in MY house!
- Alright, just calm down, I'll explain everything...
