10 Y/o Jessie's POV:

"JESSIE!! CMON THEY'RE GONNA TAKE OUR FAVORITE SWINGS HURRY UP SLOW POKE!" 

I heard charlie call my name.
I begin to trail behind him frantically.

"aHA "
Charlie scoffed to the other kids that were about to take our swings.
I sat there looking at the ground gently swaying back and forth while my feet drag in the dirt below me.
Charlie pokes my shoulder and I look up

"Hey Jesse, can I ask ya something?

"Yea?" I respond with a shy smile

"you ever wonder what life is gonna be like when you're on your own?"

"Yes" I said dryly, still dragging my feet in the dirt.

"Well.. I'm always gonna be there so you won't have to be on your own, I promise."

"You promise?" I say needing reassurance. Charlie looks over at me and gives a shy smile.

"I pinky promise, I could never break a pinky promise ya know".

We both start chuckling.  As we approach my house while walking home after another long days hangout together Charlie tugs me by my arm -

"Jesse wait.. I wanna give you something that I've been saving to remind you that I'll always be your best friend."

He pulls out a tiny jewelry box from his cargo shorts and proceeds to open it.

"It's a fake ring, but the meaning behind why I'm giving it to you isn't."

I zone out and think about how I've always felt safe around Charlie. We've always been so close ever since his mom died, after she died he was so afraid to get close to anybody else because he had such a fear of being abandoned again, so I was always there.

"Oh charlie I love it, I really do" a cheesy smile plastered across my face as I accept the ring.

"Together Forever" Charlie says sweetly.

" Together Forever" I say reciprocating the feeling."
Flashback Ends.

Adult Jessie's POV:
"MALINAAAAAA" I shout to her as she enters the room.
"JELLYYYYYY"
she shouts back louder....Malina is my girl bestfriend who gave me the nickname jelly because I used to get soooo jealous every time she talked to or hung out with somebody that wasn't me, which happened quite often so the name just stuck.

"I missed you so much I'm glad you could make it to help me get ready, I've been under a lot of  pressure and I really was about to just say fuck it, sign the papers and forget the whole big wedding Idea because girl- THATS WORK." 

I turn my body away from her to the mirror allowing myself to finish adding final touches to my makeup as malina laughs hysterically.

"Where's Charlie? You two are never apart this is surprising.. " malina says with a distraught look on her face.

"He went to go help finish setting up for the after party, he said it was supposed to be a surprise but the fact that he can't even match his own socks- but is decorating the after party really makes me GAG at the idea. I hope he knows what he's doing."
Malina let's out a little chuckle.

"Well he's marrying you so I'm sure he has great taste."
I turn to her and she winks at me, we both start laughing.

"You sure you're ready for this Jesse? I mean I know you love him and he loves you but are you truly ready for this commitment...?"

I stand up and turn around with a almost halted look on my face.
" Yes.. I mean he did promise me forever" .

I see Malina has a worry some expression that grew on her face.
