PART 8:

I barge into the living room where Ramses and Hades idle. I try to tell them all about the strange holographic wall, but words cannot come out of my mouth. They try to piece it together, but they are overall stumped. Instead of a game of charades, I urge them to follow me to the bedroom. We stand at the window looking out but we see nothing.

"There was this, like, bubble. I can't explain it. You guys have to believe me." I beg.

"I don't see anything dear. I think you have hysteria."

"You know what that means Hades." Ramses slugs Hades in the arm and smirks.

"No, really. I saw something."

"Would it make you feel better if we went out there to look?" Ramses suggests.

"Yes," I say.

"No," Hades says over me.

"Alright, alright. We'll take you, Sam, unless you wanna get treated for that hysteria thing." He winks. All of a sudden, a giant flash of purple radiates through the window, so shocking that it all makes us fall back. It fades back to its regular bubble-esq form.

"Holy shit." Hade's gasps. I get on my hands and knees.

"See! I told you! I don't have hysteria!" I exclaim.

"Yet." Ramses coughs and gets up. "Alright, alright," He stares out the window in awe of the bubble. "I'll guess we'll go and check it out."

We spend the next few minutes preparing ourselves for the journey through the jungle. We pack very little, each of us carrying a sword fastened to our belt and with Ramses, he's packing a few tents rolled up on his back. We stand in front of the door worried about what's our next move. Hades and Ramses stand feverishly with all their armor on them. With a sword on his shoulder, Ramses opens the door. I take the lead following the same path I took to go to the waterfall. We stop at the highest point, the point where you can see the government building, and wait for the next flash of purple to shine on the tops of the jungle. Hades stops us from going any farther.

"Wait. Do we even know what is out there? Ramses?" The wind blows hair away from his face.

"It's been so long since I've been out here. I can't remember."

"I can't imagine the kinds of things out here though. At this point, anything's possible."  I add.

"Yeah, if that monster at the ball was real, what else could be out there?" Hades says.

"Well, we're more than ready for the fight right? If there is one? We're still in the immortal boundaries, everything will be fine."

Hades sighs as we set off down a hill and through the jungle. In the lead, I slash my way through shrubbery and other thick parts of the wilderness. All the exotic and lush scenery easily takes your breath away, especially once you are in the middle of it. All the sounds of the tropical birds and reptiles echo off the leaves and fill you with a sense of wonder. The three of us barely talk as I cut my way through with the only sound coming from us is the intense breathing. Different varieties of green create the array of deep jungle doom, but with all the cheerful sounds and vibrant flowers counterbalance the ominous. Now, it's even starting to rain; silencing the animal noises and just darkens the area around us. Ramses makes and lights a torch, covering it so the rain wouldn't put the fire out.

As I cut my way through the underbrush, I let out heavy grunts. I'm exhausted and my arms feel like jelly. I stop to catch my breath.

"Come on Sam, we're getting closer," Hades says as I put my arms above my head. I wave my sword around just for fun. The rain loosens my grip on the sword and I let it fly out of my hands into the bush in front of us.
