It had been three years. Three years since Kit had moved to Devon. Three years since Ty joined the scholomance. Three years since Kit had told Ty he loved him. Three years since they failed to bring Livvy back from the dead. Three years since they had last seen each other.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ty Blackthorn was worried. The scholomance had sent him on a mission alone to Devon, to deal with some rogue demon attacks. He had been sent to investigate the cause, avaluate the situation and if necessary, eventually call for backup.
He had learnt that these frequent demon attacks happened ocasionally, but always for a particular reason. In London, in the ninteen-hundreds the same exact thing had happened: At first there were absolutely no demon attacks, and then they came all at once. In that case it's cause was the Demon Belial, who was trying to possess his grandson. (That sounded less-creepy in my head)
Ty had a hypothesis about what was going on. He didn't quite know why he hadn't told anyone, he just hadn't. Maybe it was because he didn't want to share how he had formulated this hypothesis: Ty knew that Kit was now living in Devon (It had taken him a lot of effort not to spontaneously show up there after Kit had left) and he new that he was the only known living descendant of the First Heir of Faerie.
Therefore when the scholomance suggested the mission to Ty, he didn't hesitate to accept it. The thing was: Ty wasn't a big fan of group missions, but it was always nice to have someone, just in case something went wrong plans did not include visiting Kit, but maybe it wouldn't hurt the investigation to go see Jem and Tessa, just to see if they were okay, right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Ty first arrived in Devon, more specifically, the outskirts of a small city who's name he didn't know he was surprised by how quiet it was for a city that was overflowing with attacks from hell.
The Scholomance had given Ty a list of shadowhunters and downworlders that lived in Devonshire: There were a couple of vampires and werevolves who's names Ty didn't recognise, of course, Tessa was the only warlock on the list, under the shadowhunter category there were two names:
Wilhemina Yiqiang Ke Carstairs and...
Christopher Jonathan Herondale
Kit, his Kit, his Watson
Ty felt a pang of sadness. After three years he had tried to forget Kit. But he couldn't. He wouldn't. He simply couldn't bring himself to forget his best friend. He had been the only person outside of his family to get to know Ty simply because he wanted to. But it was too good to last. Kit had left Ty, not so many months after Livvy.
But... This list wasn't so useless at all. Ty knew that Kit was a possible lead, but he just couldn't bring himself to interrogate Kit. So, until the very last moment possible, Ty would put their meeting off, and if that meant investigating Tessa and Jem's child first, then so be it.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ty had interrogated everyone on that list. Except for three people. He had interrogated almost everyone and no leads: An elderly wereworlf woman had insisted that the demon attacks were being set up by the vampires, and the vampires assured Ty that the most illegal thing they did nowadays was watching illegal movies online. Who knew it would be so hard?
Some missions had been hard, Ty thought, as he made his way to the Carstairs household. But this one was particularly personal. He would be forced to confront his crush (which was probably one sided anyways, because Kit didn't like him and obviously meant something else by "I love you") and face his feelings. It had taken Ty a long time to realise his feelings towards Kit weren't strictly platonic, and when he did it was too late: Kit had already gone.
He looked up to the Carstairs house (more like freaking mansion). The walls were traditional but taken care of, and the windows were victorian-styled. You could feel laughter bubbling on the inside, at least Kit had a good life now - Ty though. The house in general really reminded Ty of the mansions in Idris, even though he hadn't went inside many of them when Alicante was still open.
It was time to face his fears now.
Ty held his breath and knocked.

The first chapter is kind of boring! I would have skipped directly to the reunion and the fluff chapters without this filler chapter but I feel like the plot is important
