The Doom Hunter

This is just a heads up that the next couple chapters will have a slow progression because my depression has been getting a bit worse. Right now I'm just sitting on my laptop writing this while listening to Mick Gordon - The Icon of Sin as I write this. Hope you enjoy, and if you've made it this far, congratulations, you don't hate the garbage that is my writing.

You stared at the massive monstrosity smashing it's way across the coastal city of Spain, smashing it's way inward to the central Nexus, near the Super Gore Nest you learned that Doomguy had destroyed. Everyone was panicked, some of the refugees that had been let into the base were praying for God to save them, others were praying that the Slayer would stop the beast. Angela was tending to some of the injured soldiers, Jack was trying to devise a strategy to stop the Icon of Sin, Lena was leading civilians into the Watchpoint, the ARC Marines were just fighting off the fodder and heavy Demons attacking, Felixis was having a panic attack in the corner, and you were just watching as the chaos unfolded,.

Samuel Hayden- "You know what you must do, (Y/n). Your father will stop the Icon of Sin, if he isn't still trapped in Urdak."

No, dad can't still be trapped in Urdak, he's the Doom Slayer, he'll save us.

Samuel Hayden- "If your father is trapped in Urdak, the responsibility of stopping the Icon falls to you."

You know what to do. You put your helmet on and summon your super shotgun, snap it open and load two fresh shells into it and snapped it shut with a flick of your wrist. You jump over the railing and onto the head of a Baron of Hell. You stab it in the eye with your Doom Blade and jumped off landing on an Imp's back, snapping it's spine before you crushed it's head. You whipped out your super shotgun and blasted a Hell Knight, stopping it in it's tracks and stunning it, you threw a left hook at it's head, extended the doom blade and cut it's head off. A Revenant flew up behind you, you responded by pulling out your heavy canon and blasted off both it's rocket launchers, whipped out your plasma rifle and pumped the Demonic cyborg full of plasma heat, melting it's flesh, and finished it off with a quick punch to the jaw, shattering it's skull.

You heard a Demon appear not to far away, you swapped out to your combat shotgun and took aim. It was a large horned Demon with beige flesh, many mechanical parts, on some kind of armed hover sled, in it's right hand was a rocket launcher and it's left arm was a mechanical arm with no hand, but double chainsaw blades. It had no eyes, just some kind of device on it's face above it's lipless mouth. On the side of it's sled read; Doom Hunter 0038. Your father had warned you about Doom Hunters, cybernetic beasts designed to hunt him and the Night Sentinels on his side, and by proxy, you. It's yellow mechanical eye stared right at you.

Doom Hunter- "Slayer identified."

It let out a deafening screech and launched a barrage of micro missiles. You quickly rolled out of the way and pulled out plasma rifle back out. You fire a spread of plasma bolts at the Doom Hunter, damaging it's shields. You dodged it's attacks and return fire with carefully placed shots. After it's shields finally went down, you pulled out your tactical shotgun and switched on full auto, took aim, and blasted the sled it was on, and it didn't take much to destroy it. The sled was now on the ground, no longer a threat.

Doom Hunter- "Critical damage."

Yes!

Doom Hunter- "Detaching combat sled."

Wut?

It detached itself from the sled, revealing rocket boosters attached to it's lower torso. You pull out your Crucible, ignite the blade, and swing hard down at the Doom Hunter, cutting it clean in half from it's head to it's boosters.

Well, that works.

Samuel Hayden- "Quickly, we must stop the Icon before it becomes to strong! The longer it's here the stronger it becomes, to the point where not even ten Crucible blades could stop it!"

The Icon keeps marching forward, nothing stopping it, crashing through skyscrapers and smashing everything in it's path.

A portal opens.

Samuel Hayden- "The portal is set to a location near the Icon. Quickly, we must stop it!"

You run through and end up on top of a destroyed skyscraper. You see the Doom Slayer up higher on a ledge fighting a Marauder with his super shotgun. You pull out your heavy canon and fire at the Marauder, giving your father the upper hand but also distracting him. He looked down to see you standing there.

Doomguy- "(Y/n)!? Get out of here! It's not safe!!"

The Marauder took this oportunity and swung his axe at Doomguy, tearing through his chestplate as he crashed to the ground. Doomguy winces in pain as he gets back up.

Dad! Oh no it's all my fault!

You rush over to your father, helping him up.

Doomguy- "You shouldn't be here, (Y/n). Your just a kid! You can't take on the Icon of Sin! You haven't even fought it Titan before!"

The Marauder jumps down and laughs manaically as he charges at you. You pick up your fathers super shotgun and blast the Marauder in the face, killing it. You pull out your note pad and write on it.

Dad! I can handle myself! I just killed a Doom Hunter!

Doomguy- "I didn't get to watch you slay your first super heavy Demon!? Great, another parenting milestone I missed."

Actually I killed a Tyrant Cyberdemon in Nekravol

Doomguy- "Well I guess your more capable that I first thought, but I can't let you get hurt. Your all that I have left in my family. I lost your mother and our first child, I can't loose you too!"

What do you mean your first child!?

Doomguy- "I... Alright. We had a daughter before you. She was born not long before the first Hell invasion of Earth 30 years ago, but she was killed by the Demons. That rage is what fuels me to kill every Demon I see."

What was her name?

Doomguy- "... Her name was Daisy, and I loved her very much, I still love her. I love you as much as I love her, and I can't loose you."

Dad, you won't loose me. I love you, and I'm not gonna get killed.

You pulled out your super shotgun and hand your father his.

Doomguy- "Fine, you can come. But keep your distance from the Icon at all times."

You jump up and down in excitement. You follow your father to the Icon of Sin. He opens fire on the beast with his mobile turret while you take on the other Demons to make sure it was just your father and the Icon. The Icon opens a portal to the other side of the city and Doomguy charges after, you follow suite, wanting in on the action. You see the Icon of Sin charge up to the skyscraper you were standing on now.

Samuel Hayden- "Now, two Titans clash, as it was written."
