"Okay Remus, Virgil will probably sleep though the entire thing, but if he wakes just rock him back and forth until he falls asleep again," Janus said as he held his son's hand in his right while carrying his other son's carrier his his left.

"Okay dad!" smiled Remus with a grin as he held a green bucket close to his chest.

The bucket in question had dirt in it and Janus had only let him bring it to keep the toddler happy. And to keep him happy was to let him have a bucket of dirt; whether he was going to play with it or eat it Janus didn't know. All Janus knew was that Remus promised not to make a mess.

The group made it into the court room, the lawyer getting his children set up in the back rows of the room with Remus happily sitting with his bucket and Virgil sleeping soundly
in his carrier. Remus smiled as he held the pail in his lap while watching his father leave to meet with his friends.

After waiting a little bit with his brother Remus saw his dad and several other people walk in, all dressed nicely in fancy clothes. They all sat down near the front of the room with some on one side then the rest on the other. A person then walked in wearing a loose black dress and everyone stood.

Stuff was said, people raised their hands, some walked to sit in the wood stand, and it all seemed very important, but Remus could not care less. The only thing he got out of it was that someone ran over someone else's fence and now they were angry.

By the time his father started talking Remus had tuned them all out, instead focusing on his bucket of dirt, shoveling his hand into it and cramming as much as he could into his mouth. He liked the earthy mixed with a hint of metal taste of the dirt and was pleased his father had let him bring it to his meeting thingy.

Everything was going fine, that is, until Virgil woke up. The baby at first seemed confused as to where he was and Remus started to rock the carrier with his foot, one hand holding his dirt bucket the other shoved in his mouth with a small fist full of dirt. Although trying his best Remus couldn't seem to get his brother back to sleep, the baby rubbing his eyes tiredly then looking around. When he didn't see his father nearby he started to whimper, tears welling up in his eyes and bottom lip quivering.

Panicked that Virgil would start crying Remus popped his hand out of his mouth, wiping his slobber on his shirt and unbuckling his brother from the carrier. He then picked him up and held him in his lab, trying to bounce him on his knee like his dad does to calm him down, but it didn't seem to be working.

Now the thing about Virgil is that when he's sad he cries just like every other child, but he doesn't scream or wail or throw a fit. No, Virgil is very quiet when crying and sometimes Janus doesn't even know he is until he goes to check on his son. It's slightly worrying, but does help in situations like this.

Still trying to bounce Virgil on his leg Remus holds the bucket up to Virgil who sniffled, but his tears stopped and he dig his hand into the dirt. He then shoved it into his mouth just like Remus, smiling as he got dirt on his cheeks and nose.

"Well okay. Just don't choke on it," said Remus while resting his cheek on Virgil's ever-so-soft wavy black hair.

The meeting ended only a little bit later and his dad walked over to them.

"Hey Remus, thank you for being quiet. How about we go get some ice cream as a reward?" he said, taking Virgil from him.

"Yes! Ice cream!" cheered Remus, bouncing up with his bucket and running out the door.

It wasn't as bad as Janus expected in all honesty. They were very good during the case and he was proud, but confused when he found dirt on Virgil's hands, nose and cheeks.

The chapters are gonna be skipping around time wise so I'll say how old everyone is when it happens, but I want to get to the fun part.
