PROLOGUE-
Before I met him, everything was normal. It was all planned out. But then, my heart fluttered as the bullets flew. My thoughts raced at 1000 miles a minute. His smile, the sinister warmth of his aura. He was a criminal. I fell in love with a criminal.
CHAPTER ONE-
Walking down the street, it was a warm summer night. The sky was clear, all I saw was the moon and the clouds.
The gentle blur of colors in the sky was ataractic and lovely.
Step-by-step, everything was tranquil.
I felt a hand wrap around my forearm, then covering my mouth. The hand was darren, discomfort and turbulence rose.
Then everything went dark.
I lifted my eyelids, trying to interpret the situation I was caught in. Two men, I was shadowing him. The other stood in front of him, a gun to his forehead.
I straightened myself, staring straight into his pale blue eyes. The moonlight made him look beautiful and mischievous.
The other man tried to run, but then, two bullets flew, then lodged in his chest. My heart fluttered at his smile. He winked, walking away.
'Granger' was printed in bold letters on the sleeve of his letterman.
Oddly, his smile stuck in my mind. That's it. Not the trauma of witnessing a man die. Not the blood trailing from his body 4 feet away.
Before I met him, everything was normal. It was all planned out. But then, my heart fluttered as the bullets flew. My thoughts raced at 1000 miles a minute. His smile, the sinister warmth of his aura. He was a criminal.
His face, his hair, his smile.
"Hey! What are you thinking about?" A subtle voice sounded. It was Janine. Her skin is a golden caramel and her eyes are dark, deep, big brown orbs.
"I.. Um.." I couldn't tell anyone before I knew who he was. I needed to know. I yearned for his presence. I longed for the sight of his smile to reoccur.
"Just a weird dream. I had last night." I looked down at the bowl containing, now soggy, cereal I decided to munch on anyway.
"Alright.." She seemed suspicious, "I'm gonna head home then. I miss Lucas. I love you, now I gotta go." Her keys jangled one last time before the door closed and the mechanism clicked with a sort of satisfaction.
Pushing the bowl of cereal aside, I laid my head down, trying to escape the restless thought of a man I don't know. A criminal at that. Maybe that's why I can't get him out of my mind. Because he killed someone before my eyes.
I wonder if he's thinking of me. The horror missing in my expression. The disappearance of surprise or something I can't quite touch on.
Looking around for the new ringing, I found it. My phone. This device that contains everything I need for my work and memories. I search his name.
'Granger' was the first thing tapped out by my fingertips, recognized by the strange thing.
"1.75 million search results.." I wanted to scan through every one of them. Just to find him.
The man that made my heart flutter with a few bullets. The one that could make my entire world crash down.
'Lipson Granger: The Man Who Started It All.'
CHAPTER ONE AND ½-
'Lipson Granger, Lipson Granger, Lipson Granger' The name repeated in my head, echoed and echoed and echoed. No matter how much I tried to drown the sound from my thoughts, it was always there. Everyday, I wake up, Lipson Granger. At work, Lipson Granger.
I'm starting to see him everywhere now. His lethal smile. A weapon he's aware can drive anyone mad.
I've searched his name repeatedly, read every article, into every word and detail.
But then it all happened. That's when I went completely mad.
I just killed a man.
CHAPTER TWO-
His blood is now on my hands, the only one I can see now is him. The man consuming my each and every thought. The man who brought me to the place I am now. Dreaming. In this nightmarish life. Not quite existing just yet.
Am I the definition of insane? Am I?
The white walls surround me. Occasional injections and pills. Am I okay?
"Where is he?"
"He's dead. You killed him. You're a monster."
"Then why am I dreaming of him? Why can I see him? Why is he here?'
He's here.
To kill me.
He wants revenge.
For me killing our brother.
