I WOKE UP to hear people eating and to the smell of fresh pancakes and waffles. I looked to see a plate full of pancakes and fruits. I felt the pain from where I had been slapped the night before and my bloody lip. Many people stared at me and I knew it didn't appear good. A young teenage girl who looked entirely hopeless and looked as if I've had been jumped.

"Here are some clothes you can put on, your outfit is loaded of dirt and blood." A younger lady handed me the clothes which I hesitantly accepted. I felt ridiculous having to get spare clothes from a stranger. I went to the restroom and stared at the mirror which had been shattered but still well enough to perceive how you looked. I had a red hand mark where my father had slapped me and also many other marks from when he pushed me out the door. I broke down in tears as I had touched the very painful cuts. I changed quickly into a white sweater, green skirt, black denim jacket, and some black heels. These clothes weren't entirely my style but I was grateful. I walked out expressing gratitude to the lady who had gave me the clothes and free breakfast and went outside the diner.

"Rose you look bruised. What happened?" Ponyboy stood in front of me wondering where the hell these marks and cuts had come from.

"I'm alright. I should go back home Pony." I sped up my walking attempting to lose him. I didn't feel like speaking right now I just simply needed to go home and check on my sister.

"Rose just talk to me." he grabbed my shoulder turning me around.

"What do you want Pony?! I'm evidently hurt and cold and you keep trying to speak with me. Clearly, my father hit me who's an alcoholic after you greasers wouldn't move and I lost my mother in a car accident and now I see y'all and you all seem to despise me. So I guess I ain't wonderful at all Pony so leave me alone, savvy?" I broke down in tears and he watched me explain my tragic life never once appearing to be judging me.

"I'm so sorry Rose." I wiped my tears before running off back home. My sister opened the door and I saw my father passed out on the couch. Hazel helped me with my cuts and did everything to make sure I was okay. I cherished my sister so much she was the only person I trusted.

Ponyboy's POV

Hearing Rose's small detailed story I realized I had to tell the others. I could hardly imagine that this much had happened to her over the past couple of years. The gang had felt betrayed after discerning her as a soc now. She was rich, popular, and was friends with Cherry Valance which determined who she was now. But deep in there I knew Rose hadn't changed.

I raced into the house opening the unlocked door to see everyone in the house. Soda was currently coming out of the shower, Darry was cooking some type of meal, Two-Bit was eating chocolate cake while watching cartoons with Steve, Johnny was tossing a ball around, and Dal was lighting up on a weed.

"What's going on with you?" Two-Bit chuckled as everyone at that point then turn their attention to me.

"I saw Rose." They all began to sigh or returned back to what they had been doing.

"She was really hurt. Her face was beaten up and she had been crying." they all turned their attention to me. Dal chuckled as he was leaned against a wall.

"Everybody gets in a rumble every now and then'. What's the difference with her?" Steve said eating some of Two-Bit's cake. Everyone seemed to agree with Steve's words but I knew I couldn't let this end.

"No, you got it all wrong." I announced extremely hacked off that they didn't care to listen.

"Look, kid, I know you were close with Rose and all but she's a rich soc now who probably only cares about the next outfit she's wearing. So quit trying to help or whatever you're trying to do by bringing her up." Dal then put out his weed and paused for me to say anything or nothing at all.

"She was slapped and was forced to sleep in a diner last night because of you all! If you all would have just let her go she wouldn't be covered in bruises. And guess what Lena Anderson her mother who cared for us is dead now. But of course just because she's now a rich soc girl who lives in the West Side she doesn't matter anymore!" I shouted out which left the gang speechless. I ran to my room and hid under the covers. I wanted to help her and Hazel they once had been our friends once and they didn't deserve to be harmed that way. I knew I couldn't do it without the rest of the gang. And with that after a bad morning and afternoon, I close my eyes.
