It's been three days since Ellie woke up. The moment she did it was like my heart started to beat again and I could stop holding my breath. The doctors said she was going to be okay and could go home today. As much as she argued it, Ellie agreed to go to therapy which everyone has different views on, Mel and the doctor think it's a great idea but part of me thinks it will be better for her to talk to her friends and family. Alex never shared his opinion and as a matter of fact, he hasn't even said much since Ellie awoke. I was too happy to worry about him. Ellie was finally coming home. I had spoken to Mel and Alex about doing a small welcome home dinner for Ellie so she can be surrounded by those who love and care for her. She has no idea what's planned and I can't wait to see the look on her face. I invited Max and Kerion but unfortunately Kerion wasn't able to make it as it was his grandmas 100th birthday today so he had to go and see her.
I'm off I'll be back tomorrow morning," Mel said. We had just finished setting the table and my mum was cooking up a feast of spaghetti bolognaise and a home baked apple and cherry pie for dessert. "Where do you think you're off to?" Max said in an angry tone as he came into the dining room to finish putting up the last decorations.
"I have plans to meet someone tonight."
"No, you do not. You need to be here tonight. Tonight, is about showing your support for Ellie so you better be here." Alex was shouting at her. Mel said nothing and just took her shoes and coat off. Alex was right, Mel needed to be here. "Guys Ellie's taxi has just pulled up so everyone get into your positions," I quickly whispered. Everyone hid and Ellie started to come through the door. "Surprise!" We all shouted in unison and the look on Ellie's face was unusual, she looked both happy and annoyed. "What's wrong?" I was panicking.
"You fricken scarred the life out of me."
"We wanted to do something to welcome you home" Max shouted,
"you did all this for me?"
"It was Jamie's idea." I looked at her and I could feel myself blush. She had her long, blue hair in two braids, was wearing black leggings, a long grey t-shirt and of course her black sleeves. She looked beautiful. We haven't spoken about what I said on the pier when I said I love her; I want to but I'm scarred. My mum called us into the dining room where she had dished out everything. I sat next to Ellie and opposite Max. We all sat eating our food that tasted amazing seeing as my mum made it.
Two hours later, Max left as he had to get ready to open up his club. Mel had sneaked off when no one was looking and my mum had to go home to take her medication and sleep. I stayed behind to help tidy up. Me and Alex were washing dishes and Ellie went upstairs to unpack. "I'm sorry about when you got beat up."
"I'm over it."
"I should have stopped them and I regret it."
"At Melissa's party you lied to Matt about me hanging out with Ellie, why?"
"I don't know. After hearing you helped Ellie, part of me thought you could be good for her." I didn't say anything. "Have you spoken to her about things?" Alex asked.
"Like what?"
"That you...love her" Alex whispered.
"No."
"Why not?"
"I don't know what to say, I mean I meant what I said but what if she doesn't feel the same way and it messes everything up."
"You don't know unless you try plus it won't ruin your friendship as long as you don't let it. Now go talk to her before I throw this wet towel in your face." I nodded and went off to see Ellie.
I slowly made my way upstairs and found Ellie sat on her bed with her head in her hands. "Hey, you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine." She stated and her head shot up, her eyes were bright red and puffy. "Nothing. It's just...I was so stupid to do what I did and put you and Alex and everyone through hell."
"You're not stupid. You were in a bad place and people like Melissa and Matt only made it worse. You're amazing and I meant what I said on the pier. Every single bit of it."
"Really?"
"Yes. I love you Ellie." I quickly said before I had a chance to change my mind. "I don't want it to ruin anything I just needed to tell you how I feel."
"I love you to Jamie. You bring so much light into my life and mean everything to me." She likes me back. I wrapped my arms around her and I didn't want to let her go. I want to keep her close and safe. I can't lose her again. I don't know where this is going to go but as long as she's safe and happy then that's enough for me.
