– 𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚞𝚜It hadn't even been a month of their dating when I realized how much Lee Donghyuck had ruined our friendship. It had started from little petty things, like stealing her away during our daily meet-ups to things like what had happened a few days ago; persuading her to join his 'moonlit' dinner as he had described it so she wouldn't be able to join our traditional 'cool-off' at the last Friday of each month. Sure, I had felt the slight attraction to him that I knew was dangerous in itself, but nothing would stop the extreme loathing I felt towards to the boy.
He had taken our five-year friendship, and ruined it within a month. But what really infuriated me, was that I was sure he was doing it on purpose. Either to ruin our lives or just for the fun of it. He had made it clear that my best friend was no one special, and yet here he was, cooing lovely nothings in her air, or kissing her cheek every so often like a normal boyfriend did. Or, was it that he was finally catching feelings? I kept this thought away from my head, as for some reason, it had made me even angrier.
"Do you have a date today?" Eun-soo asked dully, and it was obvious she wasn't expecting much from Na-eun's answer. "No, actually! Should we hang out? Just the three of us?" Her voice was bright and cheerful, deeply contrasting with Eun-soo's deep and slightly annoyed tone. "I'm busy. You can go on another date I guess." Eun-soo stood up, and was starting to walk out the door. A look of hurt passed through Na-eun's face and she stood up to catch her wrist. "Can- Can we talk? All three of us?" Da-yoo and I shared a look, then sighed.
"I think we should, actually." Da-yoo started and I shot her a thumbs up. Eun-soo blew a piece of her hair out of her face and sat down hesitantly. "Well?" Na-eun was nervous, it was obvious, because as a best friend, I had noticed the small little things that made up her whole being. One of them was lacing her fingers together over and over again. "I'm sorry, guys. Really, it's just hard when he's calling you over again, I feel bad blowing him off." Eun-soo scoffed, crossing her arms. "Yet you can blow us off?"
Na-eun shifted uncomfortably. "I know, I'm so-" The ringing of her phone grabbed all of our attention and the bright glowing screen only showed one name 'Hyuckie~' with a heart and at once, I knew our plan was going to fall out. "Hey, Hyuck." Her voice was stiff and I had a faint feeling that Donghyuck had no idea what was going on. "Oh, tonight?" Na-eun's voice became weaker, and she shifted her eyes over to Eun-soo who dramatically rolled her eyes. "Hyuck, I love you, you know that?" All the love talk was making me gag. "I'm hanging with the girls tonight. Hope you don't mind." There was a silence on the other end and he hung up without another word.
It was quite obvious that Na-eun was considering calling him back but Eun-soo's hand coming in contact with the table broke her line of thought. "Hope you don't mind." She mocked her. "What are you, his fucking slave? Why do you need permission to hang out with your friends? Who is he; I'll tell you- he's the fuckboy that you met two months ago, two months ago! What does that make us then, huh? If you're blowing us off the 'date' with the fuckboy you barely know?" All through the yelling, Na-eun sat there, tears failing to come out of her eyes, just sitting there lacing her hands together over and over again.
