RILEY'S NEWS

Riley and Tim Wilde, a female anthropoid red fox and a male gray anthropoid raccoon were on patrol driving in near silence other than their music which was just high enough for them to listen to. Riley finally spoke up and said "Let's do something fancy for dinner tonight."

"Sounds good. I was thinking we were overdue for a date night anyway." Tim replied

"I do have something I want to talk with you about after work." Riley said as the emergency tone sounded.

"Attention all units we have a report of an issue on the River Avenue bridge. Caller is off scene but near by if needed." said a female voice belonging to Tim's step-mom and department dispatcher Kendra Wilde who is a female anthropoid lynx.

"Unit 33 in route." Tim said as he turned on the lights and sirens.

"We're a few blocks south and just finished break." Riley said over the police scanner. As soon as they reached the south side of the bridge Riley grabbed the microphone for the scanner and said "We need a medical boat and all the roads closed down. We have a possible female teenage jumper."

"We have all available units in route and your sister-in-law is in route with the fire boat and her team." Kendra replied.

"Stop the car and go deal with them I will turn the car around and block off traffic on River going Northbound." Tim said.

"Sounds good." Riley said stopping their patrol car. Tim got out of the passenger seat and walked around the car to the driver's seat while Riley ran to where the potential jumper was

Tim then moved the car back a few feet then adjusted to block the lanes the best he could. Just as his brother Matt and Matt's girlfriend, a brown anthropoid raccoon, named Katrina Weeks arrived and started to re route southbound traffic a couple more of their patrol cars arrived. "Hey since we have a free unit up there I need one down here helping to re route northbound traffic."

A female anthropoid skunk named Lacy Lakemann radioed in "Copy that Toby and I will be over momentarily."

"Well then Jasmine and I will stay up here." replied Riley's twin sister Rachael.

Riley reached the edge of the bridge and said to her AI, Casper who appeared as a red orb in the upper left of Riley's heads up display. "Open all lines I want everyone to hear this."

Casper said "I don't know why you want that but all units as well as home base can here you."
Riley looked at the possible jumper and asked "What is your name and what are you doing out here."

"My name is Mabel Zhou and I am really considering jumping and ending it all." replied Mabel

"My name is officer Riley Wilde why do you want to end your life?" Riley asked.

"Several reasons but the top four are the bullying at school due to my species, I have the new virus, my parents are getting a divorce, and my boyfriend Ted Shao won't talk to me any more." said Mabel

"I am sure your boyfriend has a good reason for not talking to you and besides it doesn't sound like he broke up with you otherwise you would have said that to me, as for the virus it is survivable. Your parent's divorce well I lost my mom around Christmas two years ago due to a car accident. I was bullied for being a fox for being untrustworthy." Riley said using air quotes around the word untrustworthy.

A text appeared on Riley's heads up display from Tim saying "Going to find and get Ted."

"I was considering a different method but what kept me from going through with it are my twin sister my now husband my father-in-law and my brother-in-law and my dad." Riley replied

"Well I don't feel like anyone is here for me." Mabel

"I doubt that's true." Riley replied "You know one of the biggest reason's Ted hasn't been talking to you is maybe he is planning a big surprise for something coming up."

Mabel looked at Riley and asked "Really?"

"Yes I mean I am a few months pregnant and have plans to tell my husband later maybe for you he is planning something big." Riley replied

A dew minutes later Tim and Ted arrived on scene and Tim just sat on the driver's seat quietly

Ted Ran over to Mabel and stood six feet away from Mabel and said "Of course. I know next weekend is our anniversary and I also know that by then you should be better but I have been planning something big but now that I see that I might as well tell you and ruin the surprise but I am looking into renting a rustic cabin up north just south of the bridge with a nice view from the back yard of the bridge and both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron."

Mabel stepped back from the edge turned around and asked "really?"

"Yes I also know how difficult this time is for you." Ted replied as he and Mable left

Riley shrugged and said "I guess we're done here. Close the com channel."

"Closing the channel now." Casper said.

Riley heard Tim say with disappointment "I need to head back to our department. Rachael and Jasmine are going to meet us there."

Riley frowned and said "Okay. I am sorry for keeping that a secret. I wanted to make sure before I told you as well as I didn't want it to start a fight between us at work."

The ride back to the station was a fifteen minute quiet ride.

As soon as they got back to the station Steve pulled Riley into his office and said "I want to say congratulations but with how Tim is feeling do you have proof he is the father?"
Riley sighed and went to her desk and grabbed a pill bottle then

returned to the loft where Steve's office was and set the bottle down on his desk and said "This is a special type pill for female foxes which allow us to mate outside our species but I do understand wanting to pair me with someone else until Tim believes me."

"Yes until your leave you are pared with Jasmine and your going to be in her patrol car I am paring Tim with your sister in your patrol car."

Riley said "I understand and plan on having a DNA test to prove it as soon as I can."

"That's all I wanted so congratulations." Steve replied

Riley then walked into the lobby and sat down ion a bench then pulled out her cell phone.

As soon as she had the number dialed for her doctor Rachael and Jasmine walked in. Rachael walked over to Riley and whispered "Congrats." while giving Riley a sisterly hug and kiss. She then turned to Tim and said "Let's go and your stuck with me for the next six months."

"I know and I understand." Tim replied as the two of them walked out the door.

As she got into Tim and Riley's patrol car Rachael told Tim her rules which Tim acknowledged and agreed to.
