Hyrule has been a peaceful place for years.
Link defended the land and in the end, had the girl he saved.
But brewing deep in the shadow realm was Ganondorf hatching a plan to create. A plan to create a proxy to fight for him so he didn't need to.
As he was in his lab creating his plan he had to make sure link never swung by. The thing Ganondorf had done was steal links shadow when he was last here.
As Ganondorf worked on this project day and night he was finally happy with the way it looked. To him, his creation looked perfect.
Grey skin, white hair and an identical tunic and stuff that link has only in black and grey. Ganondorf named his creation dark link the prince of darkness and as time told anytime link came near the shadow realm dark link had to fight him. Most of the time dark link would beat him but deep down dark link wanted more. He wanted not to be stuck in the shadow realm and feared by all hyrulians.
When Ganondorf stoke links shadow link was 18 link is now 24 but dark link remained the age of 18 links shadow after it was taken never continued to age it stopped.
Dark link had recently just beat link again and was walking around the shadow realm he wanted to explore Hyrule but Ganon never let him. Everyone feared dark link as link had told everyone that dark link was dangerous and selfish. Link had abused his power as "royalty" to make other fear something they had never seen or met. It made dark link slowly grow angry over the years.
"Why can't I leave this shadow place" dark link muttered to himself as he kicked around some rocks. Even though to link he was battling his own worse enemy to dark link it was way more link was his way to prove to Ganon he could survive on his own and maybe leave but link was shallow-minded and didn't see it like that.
Dark link slowly as days went by enjoyed killing link to him it was a game because link couldn't see that he was technically his brother. Ganondorf was getting prouder and happier at his creation he was doing what he was created to do. Show no mercy.
One day Link was passing by the forest unaware his shadow was in there sulking, Link deep down didn't want to fight his shadow. What people didn't know was that Ganondorf would abuse dark link especially if he didn't beat link.
Ganon began abusing dark when he found out his creation was gay. Ganondorf made dark link feel ashamed of himself, as the shadow and hero walked through the same woods but out of each other's sights, they eventually crossed paths.
Link looked at his shadow the slightly younger males grey skin which was littered with bruises and cuts. "Dark" the light counterpart started as the dark one refused to look at him. "Dark what happened".
Dark link looked at the male "why would you care" link looked at the grey-skinned boy "because I do care dark" dark links red eyes widened at links statement "Leave his side" "link I have tried so much to leave ganons rule but it's not that easy I can't kill him because if he dies I die". Links baby blue eyes began filling with tears "Dark come here" Link held his arms out towards the silver-haired boy. Dark hesitated to look at the blonde before making sure Ganon was nowhere in sight before stepping over to link.
Link pulled out his sword just in case Ganon showed up "why are you here any way link" the red-eyed boy asked "because Zelda kicked me out, she kicked me out cause I'm gay" dark link stared at the older male "yeah I'm gay as well link" link stared at dark.
"Dark see if you weren't on ganons side would you date me" link blushed lightly at his own question as the grey-skinned boy blushed as well "yeah maybe".
Links face flushed red at the other male's answer. "link, Ganons figured out I'm gone" links face showed he was nervous as he nodded "ok go I don't want you getting hurt" dark knew he was going to get hurt but smiled and nodded and began walking away "Wait!" link yelled as dark stopped walking he turned to look at the blonde boy who was running to him. Link then kissed dark links cheek as both male's blushed "I'll come to find you tomorrow link" link nodded as dark walked away back to Ganondorf's castle.
As link got home he couldn't help but cry and hold a pillow, the one person he truly loved he couldn't be with because of Ganon.
Once dark link stepped foot in the castle he was slapped by Ganon as he screamed at the silver-haired boy. After the beating dark ran to his room and as quickly as he could he packed a bag of his stuff and jumped out a window. As dark ran he eventually passed out from exhaustion crashing to the ground near the spot he met link earlier at.
Link sat at him thinking of how he could save dark he then found a note laying on his floor. He unfolded it seeing it was a spell to save him. Link smiled as he cast the spell it floated to dark it gave him his own skin making him human his once pure red eyes became only red iris's, his grey skin turning pale. Link went outdoors to walk to the place him and dark link met at earlier.
As link approached that spot he found dark laying passed out with a bag beside him the blonde boy sighed blushing softly as he looked at dark. Link picked dark up in his arms also picking up the bag and carried him to his place. As link got home he lay dark in his bed as Link sat on a chair. Dark began to stir as link jumped out of his seat. "w-where am i" "My home" link replied dark smiled "wait my skin isn't grey anymore" link smiled at dark "yeah your human now" dark smiled "we can be together now forever" dark nodded "yes we can" link looked at dark who was blushing.
Link then nervously asked him "I was wondering if you maybe I don't know wanna....." he didn't get to finish the sentence as the once grey-skinned boy kissed him. Link blushed but happily kissed back. They eventually broke away for air as dark asked link the question "will you be my boyfriend" Link smiled largely and nodded whilst blushing.
Link cuddled into dark links side as dark rested his head on links shoulder. Link chuckled quietly wrapping his arms around dark kissing the red-eyed boys cheek. "I love you" link whispered to the male as dark whispered back "I love you too".
