The next day starts weird.
I feel like this should be the part where he should act as nothing happened. Isn't that how movies and stories always picture the day after a big emotional conversation late at night? Or am I wrong?
Because Thomas is certainly not acting as if nothing happened. He is all over me. He showers me with hugs. The is still a little hesitant when it comes to kissing in front of Angel but I definitely get more kisses than usual.
The way he looks at me and watches me, tells me how good I look and brings up a conversation when I am about to drift away, shows me that he does all of it on purpose. Probably to keep my mind off the bad thoughts. And it's working. He has me convinced that he wants to stay with me. Like a 1000% convinced.
So I kiss him back, lean into the hugs, and thank him for every compliment he gives me.
When we make our way over to the apartment we may be going to rent, he even takes my hand. But that is enough for Angel. She stomps between us, breaks our hands apart, and takes them into her own. And then she smiles.
Unbelievable. This little brat.
But I can't deny that I like this. Thomas and I on both sides of Angel, holding hands with her. It feels ... good. Like we are a real family.
Andrew is waiting for us in front of the building. He is leaning against a little stone wall in a conversation with a beautiful woman but I can see that he is uncomfortable.
'My cute, little, shy Andrew. I love you.'
When he sees us, his face lights up and a second later the lady looks at us, too. She looks like a businesswoman. Her whole appearance screams CEO or at least head of management. To contrast that her rich olive skin and her curves give her a certain sex appeal. Probably not to her disadvantage.
We greet each other and the woman turns out to be the owner of the apartment, we are interested in.
"Will you three be moving in?", Mrs. Musa asks and points at us three. She has ignored Angel up until now.
"No", I say. "Andrew and I would move in with a friend of mine."
She nods. "Then shall we go up?", she asks not waiting for an answer and just leads the way to the apartment. A fifth story apartment. God, those are a lot of stairs. That is a straight-up minus point. But then she opens the apartment door and the stairs are forgotten.
I don't even have to walk in. Everything I see just through the open door makes it official. This apartment is ours.
"We'll take it", I say. Everyone stops and looks at me.
"Don't you want to see the whole apartment first?", Mrs. Musa asks confused.
"I want to see it but I know that this is the apartment for us. For sure." I think my enthusiasm gets to her. She smiles at me and signs me to step in.
It just gets better. It is so big, bigger than it looked like on the pictures. I know it is baren right now but this apartment is gold. We are so lucky.
I rush into the kitchen, let my hands glide over all the surfaces, and look into the cabinets. It's a beautiful kitchen. Next, I walk into the living room. Right now just a big square. The thing catching my eye is the window. It's so big and lets a lot of sunlight in. I can watch the street beneath us but we are too high up to hear any traffic with the window closed.
Maybe the fifth story has its perks.
"So do you want to sign the contract right now?", Mrs. Musa is asking. I turn around. She stands in the middle of the living room and holds up a piece of paper.
