CHAPTER EIGHT
There Amora was, finding herself feeling a little guilty. Because of her own transpires, she hadn't checked on her mother. However, the last text she got from her about a week ago was for her to not worry about Heidi and stay safe. It was weird because there was no other text and she knew she couldn't contact the number back, because it was dangerous. On the other hand, she wasn't too much worried because she wasn't focused on what was going on media wise. It could've been that Amora didn't care about what had happened a month and a half ago. But, that wasn't it. What mattered most to her right now was Ghost, and Ace. Ghost, however, had gone ghost on her again. Only this time, Amora didn't care to blow his phone up or call or even wonder. He hadn't made a call, text, or try to come see her. In her head, it was probably another girl or he just didn't care for her anymore.
At first, the thought hurt her feelings because this was the first guy she got involved with that made her feel and forget. However, it no longer bothered as much because she had someone "new" around. Ace wasn't at the house all the time, but he showed up more often and his attitude was more relaxed than usual. It was still like walking on eggshells with him, but their interactions had gotten better. Ever since their intense conversation, he had treated her a little better. He only shower up late in the day or super early morning. Whatever was going on, Amora didn't mind. She needed someone to be around seeing as she hated being by herself, her thoughts overtook her.
Things were somewhat smooth. Nadira wasn't coming around and although she was way thicker than Amora, sometimes she dipped into her closet because she had ran out of clothes. Yes, she was washing her own but because she barely had any, she didn't want to be seen in the same things everyday. She wasn't sure if Ace had noticed when she repeated clothes or if he even cared, but for some reason she found herself wanting to be presented better in his eyes. At home, she had so many clothes, she didn't need to repeat outfits. If she wanted something, Daddy's money was going to buy it. The adjustment still wasn't sitting right with Amora and the fact she couldn't access money made her a little bitter. However, she could be in jail. To humble herself or in an attempt to, she just remembers why she is where she is.
Without anything going on for herself, bored was an understatement. She wasn't used to cleaning things because she used to have a maid, but she sure did try to clean Nadira's house at peak boredom. Sometimes, she'd text Ace but wouldn't get a response and if she did, it'd be hours later. So, texting him was out. Amora knew what she needed: a friend. She needed to be around someone other than the one person she was seeing as he was coming and going. Beforehand, Amora didn't have many friends but she did have one named Zoë. They ended the friendship on bad terms. Even if they weren't on bad terms, Amora couldn't even contact her. She wondered if anybody missed her, where her mom was, how the house was. Often times, Amora would sink into a crippling sadness because she hated her living situation. She was sure she'd be back to her life or something like it, soon. But she was slowly starting to realize that wasn't going to be her reality. She didn't see her mom anymore, and she lived in the worst neighborhood she'd ever seen. Around this time of year, her family was vacationing. They were living their best life before this.
It wasn't unnatural for Amora to blame herself, but she wondered what would have happened to her or her mom had she not shot the gun. The news died down a little of Heidi, seeing as the spotlight was back to Dreyell. A lot of his "men" were dying left and right. Amora didn't really know them, but she knew they had ties to her father. For whatever reason, they were dropping like flies and nobody could figure out who was doing it. The police reckoned it was gang members, but that didn't seem right either. However, it was none of Amora's concern unless her and her mother were the topic of the news. They needed to worry about surviving without being caught. But, Amora missed her dad a lot. She was the one to watch his last breath but she still loved him at one point of her life. It was times like this, when she just wish she could scream and tell somebody something. She no longer wanted to carry the weight of her father's death on her back. Heidi had left her to do that and she deemed it unfair.
