Chapter 2 - The Wait

ALISHA

I woke up this morning feeling anxious and stunned. I still can't get over the fact that there is a target on my back, and Papa might not let me go to LA and accept the job position. On top of that, my cousin's sisters are also in danger. I wish there were something that I could do, but I feel helpless. Navya Didi is in LA and enjoying her life with her son, mate, a new pack, and Anya; she does not even know that she's a wolf and is basically under house arrest by her father. I couldn't believe that Papa had gone through so much in his childhood, and I suddenly realized all he and Mom had done to keep me safe.

I am suddenly brought out of my thoughts when my phone rings, and I'm suddenly wide awake. "I just woke up," I complain, and check the caller ID, showing Navya Didi I answered the phone.

Alisha: Hello?

Navya: Morning Ali

Alisha: Morning, didi. How are you?

Navya: I'm doing good. Hey, did you talk to your parents about the job position?

I had already told Navya Didi about the job position that I applied for at Google, and she told me that if my parents agreed to let me go, she insisted on having me stay at her house, and I agreed. But now, everything is on Papa and his decision.

Alisha: Yeah, I told them last night, and I also found out about a lot of things

Navya: Is it about Dadi?

My eyes went wide. Are you kidding?!

Alisha: You know about it?

Navya: Yeah

Alisha: Did your parents—

Navya: No, no, no. Mama and Papa did not tell me anything, and after disowning me, they wouldn't tell me a thing. Your parents told me since they're the only ones who talk to me now.

She's right about that. Anya's parents are not talking to Navya Didi at all because of the "crime" that she has done, and according to the family, she brought the family to shame. But my parents found out the absolute truth from her, and they believed her and did not ignore her at all. Whenever she needed help, my parents, Ayaan bhaiya, and I never hesitated to help her in any way.

Alisha: Wow, that means Ayaan bhaiya and I are the last ones to know about it

Navya: Knowing her parents, I'm pretty sure that Anya and her brothers don't know about it

Alisha: Oh yeah, you're right

Navya: Exactly, and she's been given the solution, and she will change on her 23rd birthday

Alisha: She's turning 22 next month

Navya: I know. She's not very far now.

Alisha: I wonder how Chachi and Chachu are going to explain this situation to her

Navya: That's on them

Alisha: True. Didi, I'll talk to you later. I'm going out for breakfast with a couple of friends.

Navya: Ok. Ali, let me know what Chachu says.

Alisha: Will do. Bye.

Navya: Bye

I hung up the phone, got out of bed, walked into my bathroom, wet my toothbrush with water, applied toothpaste, and brushed my teeth a little. After brushing my teeth, I rinse my mouth with water and then turn on the shower. I undress, walk in the shower stall, and relax as the warm water gives warmth to my body.
