Chap. 39

I step out and call Jack, tears threatening to return. "Sam?" he asks.

I sniffle, "Jack my brother is here... to get me," I say slowly.

"The hell he is! Where is he? Let me talk to him," he insists. I laugh, "he's at my house, I'm not there." I say.

"Oh? Where are you?" He asks.

I look behind me, "at the park, don't worry about me," I say.

"Well, when are you going back home?" He asks.

I shrug, "probably in an hour. Hopefully Jared isn't there, though," I say.

"Yeah, well you call me when your ready to go home and I'll go with you," he says.

I smile, "thank you," I say.

"Any time. I love you," he says then ends the call.

Shawn drops me off a block away and I start calling Jack. I tell him where  I am and he meets me there. Jared's car is still in the driveway so I look away.

"Hey, it's okay. Your not leaving. Not on my watch," says Jack and he leans in and kisses me. "Now let's go," he says.

We walk in and see Cam and Jared in the same place. "Sam!" Jared yells and walks to me. "I've made up my mind, I'm not going!" I say violently.

"Sam, you can't make that discision, your not yet eighteen," he says.

My mouth drops open, and I try to think of what to say. "Mom sent me here, she can't just want me back a few months later!" I say.

"Yes. Yes she can," says Jared.

I cross my arms, tears overwatering my eyes.

Jack steps up, "she can't leave, and she isn't," he says.

"Jack-," Cameron starts. "No! He's not taking her away now!" He says.

Jared looks Jack in the eye, "and who are you?" He asks. They are about the same build and height.

"I'm her boyfriend," Jack says poking his chest.
