All I Want Is My Two Front Teeth Back

Remus- 7, Virgil- 4

Janus had decided to take Remus and Virgil to a nearby park to help Remus burn the extra energy he always seemed to have. Janus had been pushing little Virgil on the swing while Remus was going crazy because of all the space he could run around and have fun in. After a while though Janus' arms got tired and let Virgil go on the play ground.

That was when Janus saw something at nearly gave him a heart attack. Remus was standing on top of the playground's tallest slide, grinning happily and waving down at Janus.

"Hi dad!" the boy called.

"Remus get down from there!" cried Janus.

"Okay!"

The boy crouched down and Janus felt his blood run cold as he realized what his child was doing.

"Remus no!"

Remus then jumped off the top, landing in the ground with a thud. He then popped right back up, a grin on his face and mud smeared on his cheeks and forehead.

"Remus yes!" shouted the seven year old.

"Remus don't you ever do that again! You could've gotten seriously hurt! Why would you ever do that?" Janus screeched, on the brink of cardiac-arrest. He grabbed Remus' arm and pulled him over to the bench so Janus' back was to the playground.

"Because it was fun," said Remus, tilting his head and smiling proudly.

"Dear god, how have you not died yet?" sighed the father, covering his eyes with his left hand.

"I'm immortal! Nothing can ever slay me! I'll just keep returning like a cockroach!" cheered Remus, his grin never breaking.

"Good to know little octopus," Janus smiled, Remus' optimism contagious.

He suddenly heard a thump behind him followed by a wailing scream. Janus whipped around to find Virgil curled up on the ground, face in the dirt as he shook.

"Fuck!" Janus thought as he dashed over to his child, pulling him up into his arms to see what happened.

And oh dear lord there was blood everywhere! Virgil has knocked out his two front teeth, which were still on the ground, and his bottom teeth had bitten through his top lip. Virgil was sobbing and babbling incoherently as Janus just stared at his mouth in stunned silence for a few seconds. He then snapped out of it, carefully picked up Virgil's two teeth and put them in his pocket. Then he ran back to Remus, grabbing him by the arm and putting his two sons in the back of the car, quickly driving to the hospital to help his son.

Virgil was quietly crying the entire way there, Remus doing his best to calm his little brother down and held his head back so Virgil wouldn't bleed all over the seats.

They arrived at the hospital where the doctors immediately took Virgil in to get him fixed up, Janus and Remus waiting outside the room in a "mild" panic.

"I'm sorry dad! It's my fault! He saw me climb up and then he did it too! It's my fault! I didn't warn you! I'm sorry!" wailed Remus, tears pouring out of his eyes.

"Shhh. Shh. It's not your fault honey. It'll be okay, Virgil will be okay. I promise. We just need to stay calm," Janus soothed his child, holding him in his lap while trying not to get the blood that had gotten onto his shirt on Remus (though Remus probably wouldn't object if it did).

After about a hour the doctor came out with a tired looking Virgil in his arms.

"Hello Mr. Sanders. Your son is going to be perfectly fine. He did have to get three stitches on his lip, but his teeth were not damaged as far as we could see. He will however have a lisp until his new teeth come in. I advise you to take Virgil to a dentist once the stitches have been removed just to make sure no they're have been damaged, but other than that he should be good to go," explained the doctor.

"Thank you," said Janus, taking Virgil from them.

Virgil looked up at Janus and smiled, revealing the hole where two missing teeth once were.

"Dada can I have ma teef back?" Virgil asked, now with a lisp.

"Sorry honey, but I don't think they'll go back in. But you will get knew ones, eventually. Now how about we get some ice cream as a treat?" smiled Janus.

"Ife cream!" cheered Virgil.

"Yeah!" agreed Remus.

"Alright, lets go,"

They checked out of the hospital then left to get their promised ice cream.
