Chapter 1

Heart pumping, pulse pounding and on top of that I'm sweating like a pig. I stopped running to catch my breath looking around at my surroundings the dark coloured trunks of the trees but the baby blue of the sky making the forest seem light but dark at the same time. I closed my eyes bending over the familiar sent of the forest seemed to calm my heart beat and breathing pattern. Interrupting my calm, JJ flicked me on the ear.

"Ouch" I said pushing JJ to the ground and heard a loud snap. At first I thought that it was one of JJ's bones but it was just a stick snapping under his weight. I smiled and jumped on him tackling him back to the ground.

"Well..."said JJ smiling his crocked smile that made me fall in love with him in the first place. I roll my self on to him, giving him a small peck on the lips teasing him with my smile.

The standing back up to get ready to run again.

"Is that it Zuri?" he stood up and put his hands around my waist kissing my neck.

"Come on my dads going to be wondering where we are."

"Arr what a cliche, the over protective father, boyfriend that he doesn't like and on top of that where Nephilm, maybe not such a cliche." He turned and ran to get a head start on running. Within five seconds I'd all ready caught up, I have all ways been quicker than him one of the very many wonders of being Nephilm being able to run faster, we can see in the dark, we heal faster and are natural born fighters, born to protect the world from demons and half demons (half breeds) such as warlocks, vampires and werewolves. But JJ and I are in training as we are only 16 we are under age to be on the council or be official fighters for the council, all under age Nephilm train to be on the council or to be fighters.

We live in a hotel that my dad owns it's mostly a safe haven for Nephilm but my dad rents it out to mundanes or half breeds to get money to by food and to pay mundane bills. Even though we aren't official fighters for the council we still fight demons just not rouge half breeds.

As soon as we are out of the forest my dads there waiting, my dad is our trainer he teaches us about the council and combat fighting, makes us read books and teaches us about life in general.

"What have you two been doing you took twice the time you normally take to run the forest track."
We looked at each the at the same time and smiled. Dad looked me and than at JJ and then said

"You know I don't want to know. Right lets get started."

After training dad said that JJ and I can go demon hunting, like all ways he said to call him if anything went wrong all the normal rules apply. Dads normally pretty laid back about most things but when it comes to my safety he's pretty strict.

The abandoned subway station is the best place to find demons seems there's no sun light.

In the abandoned subway station

"Right" JJ said, the dark leather of his fighting gear reflecting his brown black eyes. Interrupting what JJ was about to say a pack of demons came out of one of the darker corners.

"Oh I wish I knew the name of my angel."JJ whispered, his sword lit up ready for battle. We get to name our swords after the names of angels. Angels are like our ancestors but when we turn eighteen we can have one wish within the Angels power so the more power your angel has the better power wish is going to be.

My mum wished for my life, because she couldn't have a baby naturally, but her angel wasn't powerful enough to give a baby life so the angel had to take a life to give one, so my mum gave her life for mine. I never met my mum but I love her.
