Prologue 14 ~Relunctant Travel~

~Twisted Wonderland~

Dwarfs' Mine - Silent Woods

The moment they all stepped out of the mirror, they found out that they were in the middle of a forest.

"So, this is the Dwarfs' Mine..." Deuce mumbled as he scanned and looked around the area.

"It's...so quiet," Himemiya commented.

"And spooky too..." Grim added.

"Long ago, this place seemed to be a bustling place to mine for magic stones. But now..." 

Deuce didn't have to elaborate for the others to understand what he was trying to say. It was obvious that the place had been abandoned for a long time.

"Hey, there's a house way back over there," Ace pointed over to what seemed to be a cottage, "Let's go see if someone's there and if they know anything."

The others nodded their heads before heading over to the small house.

Upon arriving at the front door, they found out that the door to the cottage was opened slightly. Curiously, Deuce knocked on the door before peeking his head inside, "Good evening!"

His greeting was not responded but the four of them were instead greeted by a sight of an old and abandoned state inside the cottage.

"Is no one living here anymore? Doesn't look like anyone's been taking care of it," Deuce commented as they all went inside and looked around.

"Pwahh!" Grim yelped, "I'm getting spiderwebs in my face! Pweh! Pweh!!"

"Here, let me help," Himemiya took the spiderwebs off of Grim's face while the two young men continue to look around.

Ace eventually stood in front of a dining table and wondered out loud, "Don't you think the tables and chairs and everything else here looks really tiny?"

His question made the other three looked around once again and Deuce nodded his head, "Kind of... Although it wouldn't make sense for only kids to be living out here in the middle of a forest."

"One, two, three, four..." Ace counted the chairs at the dining table before his eyes widen in surprise, "...seven! That's a lot!"

"I'm sure this house was full of activity when the Dwarfs' Mine was still in business..." Deuce commented and the two young men went on with their conversation while Himemiya looked around with some sort of mixed feelings.

'Strange... Why do I get the feeling that I've seen this kind of sight before?' she thought to herself as she looked around at the empty and abandoned house.

"Oi!" a tap on her shoulder was all that it took to snap the young woman from her thoughts as she turned around and faced Ace.

"What are you doing, spacing around like that? Did you even hear what I've said?" the young man asked as he quirked one eyebrow at her.

"Oh, sorry. I just...suddenly got reminded of something," she told him but Ace still gave her the look of the doubt before he waved it off.

"Anyway, back to what I was saying. There's no point looking around here. Even if there are any magic stones left around, they most probably be in the mines," he said and pointed at the door leading outside, "So, let's go."

The four of them walked towards the mine and eventually found the mine's entrance.
