Prologue 18 ~Tenacious Chase~

~Twisted Wonderland~

Dwarfs' Mine - Silent Woods

Their short moment of happiness was quickly tossed aside when the monster had freed itself from all the cauldron that fell on it earlier. And now, the monster had been chasing them ever since they left the mine, all the way to the forest.

"You got to be kidding me!?" Ace exclaimed, "How did he pushed all of those things off of him and quickly caught up to us!?"

"He's one persistent monster, I'll give him that!" Deuce yelled in an irritated manner.

"UUuUUUuuuuuu....! SdONe...giVE bACkkk..!!" it yelled at them.

"Damn it! At this rate, we'll get caught up in no time...!" Deuce shout while he pondered the situation.

Himemiya looked over at the monster that was chasing behind them. Unlike how it acted previously, the monster's movement was clearly slower than before. And just now, when it was yelling at them, it sounded as if it had grown tired.

Sensing a chance, she called out to the others, "But it's weaker now!"

From her statement, the others went and glanced over at the monster and true to what she had said, the monster was indeed showing a lack of energy than before.

"If we take it on now..." Himemiya spoke up, "We might have a chance of winning!"

"Aaaaaaghh, fine!" Ace yelled in frustration and stopped in his tracks before facing the monster behind them, "Let's do this then!"

"Right!" Deuce and Grim readied themselves as they also stopped running and faced the approaching monster.

Ace glanced over at Deuce before he took his stance, "Don't let me down, Mr. Serious!"

"The same goes for you!" Deuce retorted as he took out his magical pen and took his stance.

"You stay back, Himemiya! And take care of this!" Grim said to the young woman and passed the magic stone to her. Right after that, he stood in between the two young men with a determined look on his face, "From here on out, I'm going to show you my true power!"

Grim quickly spewed out his blue flames, creating a border between the young woman and the rest at the other side.

The battle itself was fierce and heart pounding. Although the monster was weaker, it still proved to be a challenge for the other three to take it on.

Not to mention the monster kept on trying to cross the firey border that separated them from the young woman. It tried to grab her but then the others would catch it off guard and surprised it with multiple attacks.

Feeling agitated, the monster would often throw into a fit and send multiple attacks at them and the sight scared her.

 There was never a time where she wouldn't fear and worry for their safety. But at the same time, she held on to a small hope inside of her that they'll win against the monster. A hope that they'll survive and win the battle.

And right after that, the final blow was finally delivered.

The monster fell down to the ground with a loud thud, silence followed afterward accompanied by the harsh gasping coming from the trio that fought against it. When the monster showed no signs of moving, realization finally hit them.
