Hitting The High Seas

The year was 1827. The continent of Asia was thriving at this time, but farther South of Japan, there were miles after miles of undiscovered land that remained undetected by others. It was almost cut off completely. It was like a continent of islands, a mainland, and seas everywhere. This place was gigantic and held many kingdoms. Hundreds, even. But there were bandits, corruption, and pirates too. There was nothing that really could define a perfect life, but one kingdom was quite close to it.

The wind was hitting the curtains heavily at her open, white doorway that seemed to nearly light up the room. The drapes were moving back and forth from the summer breeze, and it gave a calming mood to the day. The wind and light of the day lit up her blue and white room. The birds were softly chirping in the near distance at the docks and on the rooftops, and the sky had a scarce amount of clouds that only decorated the perfect morning even further. It was peaceful now. No problems, no bumps in the road. A day of pure relaxation for her.

Miku stood on the high balcony of her room that overlooked the entire kingdom, her teal pigtails being blown back a bit by the calming winds that kept her dress blowing a little too. She sighed softly at her state of silent bliss, closing her eyes. She usually found no point in silence and had an active life, but today was the perfect day to die down and appreciate all of nature. Miku was naturally rebellious and never enjoyed any or anything related to orders. She would have preferred to live her own life. Though, this relaxation was too much to resist.

Miku was more than a commoner that roamed the marketplace daily for food and pick pocketing money. All nourishment was provided to her, and that was perfectly alright with her. She lived in the palace that was built against a large hill that separated their kingdom from others. It was a gorgeous kingdom, she had to admit. None could compare to the golden age they were experiencing at this century. The hills were a healthy green, the crops in the distance were flourishing, and the houses and shops were well built. It was nearly a heaven.

Her attire was that bit common and easy going, however. She wore a teal dress that reached her ankles and matched her hair perfectly. It had white lace in the front across her chest and stomach to keep the dress tight, and it made her look professional. Her footwear was plain black flats.

Her twin brother- Mikuo- was out horse back riding on his black stallion he had named Shadow years ago, and she wasn't sure when he would come back from his little weekly activity with his beloved horse and sometimes even his friends. He wasn't home enough. She sometimes even got jealous of that stallion since it seemed like Mikuo liked him over her and prioritized him first.

Her family, if it wasn't perfectly obvious already, was the royal family that watched over the kingdom she was currently and hopefully forever in. They enjoyed life in luxury and peace. Unlike many kingdoms in this time, they were free of government corruption and the community was happy. Her little paradise.

She flinched and opened her eyes suddenly as if a loud and abrupt disturbance was heard in her thoughts. Which it was, of course. A large booming sound erupted from the distance, and it made her jump slightly in her place and shoot up from leaning on the balcony. She looked out and instantly felt regret for letting Mikuo out riding despite him telling her about his gut having a bad feeling. He was all too right.

In the distance, a ship with black sails was quickly approaching the docks. A house was on fire and in destruction. Smoke was spreading. That's when she realized what was happening.

We are getting attacked, aren't we? They are going to be hostile with us, and Mikuo was right.... They shot at us.

Right then, the ship began to dock and set down the boards. Out came many armed men. Guns, swords, and cannons... They were being fired at. She looked at them, seeing them in the distance. She began to shake as some ran down the path toward the palace while others ran into houses and grabbed women and treasures.
