SHOUT-OUT TO MaharukhhHasan, thank you for supporting me and have a great day !
MY HEAD WAS RINGING like insane. I could hear droplets of water echoing, I wonder where was this place... And I realized that Chris and I had been kidnapped!I vigorously yanked out from the rope that tied my wrists and the chair that I was sitting were making a weird, loud noise because my miserable self tried to untie the rope, but it failed of course, as I thought.
"Oh shit." I cursed out, scratching my head nervously like an idiot, I began to panic but then, sudden footsteps made me went stiff. It was the kidnapper! Chris' voice was muffled by the cloth that was crumpled on his mouth and the kidnapper yanked him closer to my side. I startled when Chris' body staggered on my chair. The kidnapper went silent for a bit and then laughed like a psychopath. I shivered slightly by his psychotic laugh. Chris was still struggling and anxious muffles came from his mouth.
"Well, well.." the kidnapper suddenly began to speak. But for some reason, his voice was familiar in an odd way.
"Really, your families are too cold-blooded for not letting you both know about the reason," he spoke calmly.
I hold my breath a little and began to talk. "Who are you?" I asked, my hands were shaking by fear.
I could hear that he smirked at my question.
"I'm Donovan."
The cloth that was wrinkled inside Chris' mouth successfully got out from him and he gasped.
"Uncle Donovan?" Chris queried. A confused yet irritated expression was marked on his face.
"Yes Chris, you're right. I'm your father's long lost twin," he confessed.
"Is it really you, Uncle?" Chris asked again hesitantly.
"Yes, and why I brought you here is, you kids wanted to know why your families began hating each other right?"
"Yes!" Chris and I both said out loud.
"Well then-" I cut him off because I got curious why he kidnapped us instead of chatting properly.
"Why'd you kidnapped us?" I asked.
"Good question, Chris' bodyguards were there and they know me. So I got no choice but kidnapped both of you," he answered.
I hummed in approval and he began to talk about our families history. I looked down at Chris and he sent me a reassuring smile. I think... I'm falling for you, Christian Peterson. I smiled back and Donovan started to speak.
"Long ago, before the Petersons and the Arrington's families became enemies, the Petersons first generation's, Peyton and the Arrington's first generation's, Daniel was once married. They lived merrily for a long time, but a rapid event made them so bitter towards each other- their only child died because of a fire accident. At that period, they both left their child on the house and they regretted it so much they mourned a lot. Then Daniel abandoned Peyton on her own because of that. Peyton was overwhelmed, she lost her husband and son altogether. Peyton then betrayed her husband because of her grief and stress. 3 years later, Peyton and her second husband, Ethan had a son. Daniel then unexpectedly returned and had a huge quarrel with them almost every day. Then one day, a fire started and all of them died together in a brutal way. Since that day, both families vowed that they will forever loathe each other because of that incident that inflicted their family member died. A day had passed and the Arrington privately went to a fortune teller in case for caution and said that if both families member's got married, the incident will repeat again." he sighed.
I gaped at him, all of this was just so unbelievable.
"I also fell in love and got married to a family member of Arrington's. But we suffered in the same incident and alerted both families to not to be in a relationship anymore with each other or their family will be miserable and ended up dead." he stuttered a little.
Everything about this was unbelievable. What a tragic reason. I stared at Chris, wondering what will happen in the future if we got together.
"Now, now let's get you two back home." he broke the silence wavering around Chris and me.
He untied my wrists and untied Chris' too. We walked together to Donovan's car and drove to the airport.
"Chris.." I mumbled.
"Hmm?" he replied.
"What should we do now?"
"I don't know," he whispered. Then he looked out at the window.
Then we became silent throughout the car. No one was speaking, only vague breaths were in the car.
An hour later, we entered the airport and we sent our regards to Donovan. Then he left us alone and throughout our back home to LA, we never communicated about anything. Only vague breaths and passengers chattering around. Hours later, we arrived and went separated. Chris went to the south gate and I went to the east gate so that our family will not know that we were together throughout the aeroplane.
"Hailey. What are you-" My mother spoke but I cut her off roughly.
"Mother, I know about the reason," I said in a cold way and I heard she gasped while holding her hand into her chest.
"Y-you,"
"I know everything, everyone," I said out loud.
My family gasped and they made a confused yet scared expression on their faces.
"W-what do you mean?" My father suddenly asked. I had never heard my father stuttered. It meant that this family history reason was really a top-secret. My grandparents just kept staring at each other with a guilty look.
"How you guys kept me in the dark and the reason for our hatred to the Petersons family," I stated. I quickly look down at the ground because I really didn't want to see their faces. I didn't want to know their expressions. Right now, people were staring at us- at me, yelling at the airport.
"We're so sorry, Hailey." My grandparents said to me.
"What?"
"We're so-" They continued, "No, stop." I cut them off.
"I need to think this through." I clenched my fists. I didn't even know how to react. I felt like I had to be away from my family first. I couldn't think straight at all. I cannot utter a single sentence again.
"Goodbye." And that was my last word to my family.
I dashed outside and got into a random taxi, then I said to the driver to drive me to the nearest hotel. I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't choose Chris and my family, my surroundings began to blur when I looked outside the window. It was raining heavily and here I still thought about Chris.
I just wished that he will be alright.
