We've all heard of great bank heists, the great bueno, the London heist... the list is long. 'Mad' criminals breaking into heavily guarded facilities for their riches. Although I do think we might blame the system for this, I mean, the system itself is full of thieves making away with loads of cash, only difference is, they don't wear masks.
Then that's where I proove my point, the big fish take all the good seaweed and leave nothing but scrap for the small fish who eventually get tired and decide to take it by force because it belongs to them. All this promotes hate, bla bla bla, next thing you know the small fish are being termed as the criminals. Don't blame me for viewing it from that perspective though. Ouh and let's not forget the forgotten, the normal fish who will see all of this happening until it becomes normal to them.
"Hey, it's me, Mike. How's your wife... The kids? That's good to hear. So you're still coming to the party this weekend right, usijali nyama choma ni kibao, I know you remember the goat I bought just the other day... So make sure you don't miss... Aight, I'll talk to you later, say hi to Elizabeth for me huh... Ok" (hangs up)
That there was the voice of the mastermind, the person who pulled off the perfect heist, Mike. I know he doesn't sound or look like one but let's just say he is the small fish who is still patient at the moment. The voice on the other end was his long time friend, more of a brother to him, Benji. They've known each other for as long as they can remember, since they were both brought up the sub-urban of the big city, Nairobi or Nairobbery as it came to be known. The year is 1997 and they're both older now. As you could tell Mike was throwing a party, it was his 30th birthday, he was getting really old and fast. Our thirty year old friend had two kids, Chris who was 7 and Angela was 5. He was a real family man, I guess it's because he was a normal guy in a normal life. A bank manager, getting a fine salary and was able to put food on the table and smiles on his kids' faces, life was just normal.
His friend Benji on the other hand had been in and out of jobs, life wasn't easy for him especially because he'd dropped out of college with no plan at all saying it was something with how school wasn't really for him. He got his girl pregnant then and dhe had to move in with him. It was a struggle for him with no job and a wife with three kids to feed. You would think he was older than Mike but no, he was four years younger. Life really isn't fair, is it.
