After a few checks. The doctor confirmed that she was okay but had to stay a few more days for assessment.

"I would like to have a word with you." he said

I strode behind him us we made away way out of the room leaving Hajara who was just dozing off in response to the medication administered to her.

I sat on the seat flexing my fist as I waited for him to talk. And indication that, I was nervous.

"Erm" he cleared his throat as he brought me out of my thoughts.

"Hajara.."
he mentioned her name with his thick southern accent. But for the situation at hand, I would have laughed my heart out. It was so funny.

"She's doing pretty well and the wound is doing very well much to my surprise." He added.

"If I may ask, where is her mom? After she gave out her sample, I haven't seen her. You know, I'm not a believer. I deal with logic and science but sometimes, science can't explain certain things.
Like the bond between families especially in critical times as this. Initially, everything was going south. But once that blood entered her, just look at how hale and hearty she has become."

At this point i was more confused. What did he mean by her mother? No he was getting it all wrong. I shook my heard as I chuckled in amusement. Oyinbo people and plenty talk talk.
"Na only him sabi" I said gently under my breath in my best Nigerian accent.

"Doctor, you got it all wrong." I said as I tried to clarify the misunderstanding.

"She Hajara, doesn't even know aunty AA. They only met today. Their blood matches and all but that's it. Nothing more, nothing less" I said with a giggle.

He took off his glasses as he stared at me. "You sure?
Because science doesn't lie. Everything on here matches." He added looking exasperated as he scratched his bald head.

"So do you know her mom?"
I shook my head. I didn't like how the whole thing was going. My head was starting to ache.

"I would like to meet your aunt AA then." He added.
He bent to look at me critically before continuing with what he was saying.

The technician, mistook another patient's sample with that of her mom.

The latter, wanted to do a DNA test. And aunty AA's blood was rather to be checked if hers would match that of Hajaras.

After he carried out the test, he realised his mistake but it was to late because he had input the result in her file.

So he had to repeat the test again this time around with the right sample.
I only got to find out when I saw the results of the DNA in her folder.
Initially, I was confused. Did you come for a DNA or you came for a surgery? I asked myself.
I brushed the issue aside and decided to tell you the result of the test as is supposed of us.

But later, the technician drew my attention to the mistake he did. But I  wasn't bothered since you all came in together. I presumed she was her mom and brushed it aside.
But now, you're telling me something interesting.

I stood up us I brushed my face with my palm.

My mind flashed back to some years ago when I overheard mami scolding aunty AA about a little girl she had left back in Ghana. But as soon as I entered the room, they changed the topic and that was it. I also heard a name. I heard mami say Hajara.

Was she the one?
Why did aunt AA have to leave her daughter all alone suffering whiles she was living big over here?

Or did her husband not know about Hajara?
Was she an illegitimate child?

"Are you okay ?"  Doctor Ken asked.
All I could do was nod my head as I made my way out of his office.

My head was throbbing so bad.

I picked my phone to call Huzaif my little brother and relayed the information to him.
He suggested we told dad or mami.
Mami was the best person to inform at this point I added.
Then I remembered Hud. He worked for me. He was aunty AA's husbands younger brother.
No Huzaifa disagreed. It was best to keep him out of the matter for now.

I ended the call with a more throbbing headache.
I sat down at the OPD area as I brooded over the issue over and over again.
God indeed does things in miraculous ways.

I decided to wait till morning. It was to late call mami.

The alarm from my phone blared loudly into my ears waking me up for the morning prayers.
"Shit" I cursed
After I spoke with Huzaif, I didn't take my earpiece off my ears. I rubbed my ears vigorously as I tried to get rid of the irritating noise it was making after the blaring of the alarm.

I stood up from my sit and stretched my arms as I made my way to Hajaras room to pray.
As soon as I was done. Mami entered with a big basket as she settled on the stool close to Hajara who was still fast asleep.

I turned to greet her and led her out to discuss the issue at hand with her.

"What did you say? Hakeem are you sure"
At this point, all hell broke loose as mami cried hysterically .

"God, does things in mysterious ways" she murmured as she wiped her tears.
