Sonic walked around the lab, eventually reaching an open door. Entering, he realized it was some sort of... well, it was a room full of boxes and computers.

In the middle of the area, there was a cassette player. Sonic went to one of the boxes, opening it. It was completely filled with cassette tapes. He took the first one, reading the label.

"5h4d0w introduction."

He read it again. What did this mean? Regarding this, the azure hedgehog put it in the cassette player, hitting 'play'.

"Is this thing on? It is."

His ears pricked. Was that Eggman?

"My name is Gerald Robotnik. If you are listening to this, I am most likely deceased."

"Most likely deceased, huh?" Sonic muttered under his breath.

"This tape, along with the others following, will follow the development progress of my creation; 5h4d0w! Or, Shadow. He is to be a cure for my beloved (Grand?)daughter, Maria."

"Shadow will be a hedgehog. His personality.. well, he's a bit of a cold one. who prefers to be alone"

Well, that's an obvious one.

"His gender?"

'That's obvious, male.' Sonic thought.

"Hermaphrodite!"
