Soral dreamed of one day flying out of the cave.
"Soral, don't do this", "Soral, don't drag your tail on the floor.", "Soral, stop trying to fly out. You know-" Soral scowled, gliding to her ledge. "You ALWAYS tell me what NOT to do, Emerald." Emerald was bossy, always thinking about herself.
"Whirlpool said it's YOUR turn to get food tonight." Soral rolled her green eyes. She wasn't in the mood to talk to Whirlpool. He loved feeling important and special. Soral couldn't comprehend why he still didn't realize no one cared. "Tell him he needs to do it. I am not going to hear his lame excuses." Soral hissed. "NO. When he hunts, he brings FISH. Slimy, smelly, small, FISH." Soral thought for a moment. True, she hated fish, and Emerald only brought bunnies. She wanted a cow for once. "Fine. I'll do it." Soral lept from her ledge, her gold colored scales glowing from the torch light. She shot past the cave Whirlpool was chasing a mouse in. She blinked. When she opened her eyes, Soral saw someone. "LOOKOUT!" She yelped. It was Flame. He was the wrong dragon to bump into.
She crashed into him. A small young dragon peeredthrough one of the caves. He saw them tumbling, a blurof gold and red, claws hitting the air.Flame scurried away from Soral, grabbing her by the tailand throwing her into the cave wall. The small dragonran out of the cave and bit Flame's tail. "Why did youhurt her?!" His shiny white scales glimmered as he rantowards Soral. "Flame... ummmm... how was your day?"She said, slowly side-stepping, trying to hide. He was anadult. Flame could easily tear her body, or eat her, or sether on fire. She darted out, using the lower part of herlegs to lunge herself towards the boulder clogging the river big enough for Flame to fly through. It wouldn'tbudge. "Emerald, get over here if you want food." Noresponce. Soral could hear the red dragon approaching."EMERALD, YOU LAZY TAIL. GET IN HERE."The green dragon flew in. "What. Do. You. Want."Emerald said, narrowing her purple eyes. She lookeddown. "Oh." Soral looked behind them. She sawFlame's shadow. "Hurry!" She whispered. Together, they heaved, pushing enough to hold it open for a fewseconds. "Go!" Emerald whispered. Soral nodded, darting through the opening. The moment she felt thewind under her wings, she soared. "What are you doing out here?" The big black dragonstopped her in her path. "Starbinder!" Soral screamed, hugging the adult dragon. "What are you doing out here?" Starbinder asked."Emerald wanted me to go hunting. That obnoxiouscamel licking snob...." Soral explained."Oh.""Will you come with me? Pleaaaaase?"Sorl begged, tailbetween her legs. "Fine." Starbinder said, The two dragons sailed through the glorious blue sky."There!" Soral flipped through the air, twisting untilshe faced upside down, diving at immense speed.~Holy cow,~ Soral thought. It was the biggest turtleshe ever saw. ~And it's all mine.~ She landed infrontof it, looking into its droopy eyes. Soral would'vestruck the turtle, if a huge red and orange dragon hadn't dived at her and pushed her out of the way."Get away from him!" She shrieked. The dragon liftedthe turtle, even though it was most clearly protesting, squirming, and trying to get back to nibble on the patchof grass. "Him?" Soral asked, trying hard not to laugh at howsilly it sounded."Yes, him. Where are your manners, you foolish dragon?"The older dragon questioned. "Do you have a problemwith my pet turtle?" She asked, raising her voice. Soralcouldn't hold her laughter any longer. "A PET?! HA!"Soral snorted, laughing hysterically. Starbinder hurriedlyflew down. ~Please don't do something stupid.~Starbinder thought as she landed gracefully beside Soral."Soral, we can find something ELSE." But Soral wasdetermined."I don't want anything else! That turtle is MINE!" "Soral, we're going, now. We can get a falcon instead!"Starbinder had a worried look for the first time. Normally,Starbinder's yellow eyes only looked peaceful, or happy."You aren't going anywhere." The red and orange dragonseized Soral's wing and held it down. "OW!" She yelled."Where are my manners? I'm Flare... and you're goingdown." Flare tighten her grip as Soral kicked, flapped herother wing, and whacked Flare with her tail. "Let her go!"Starbinder yelled, shoving Flare away from Soral. "GO!"She screamed, wrestling the angered dragon."No!" Soral said, tears rushing from her eyes. She leapedand shot fire at Flare, hitting the wound on Flare's leg from Soral's kicks, going through the dragon's veins. "AGHHHHHH!" She screeched, flapping her wings asher leg began to turn black. Flare jumped, rising to thesky, panicing, and looking for any source of water. "FENRIR, WHY!?" Flare roared.Suddenly, the air felt icey. "I toold you to kill the goldenone," It seemed as though the voice was everywhere.Within the blink of an eye, a dragon the color of thedarkest of night grabbed Flare and through her next toStarbinder and Soral. "I don't need the black one dead...yet." The creature hissed, its evil red eyes glancing atSoral. "You, the golden one, what's your name?" Itquestioned, flickering its tounge. Soral nervously lookedat the new dragon's sharp teeth and forked purple tounge. "I am Soral. Who are you, and what do you want?" Shesaid, slowly gathering courage."I am Fenrir, and I want you DEAD." Fenrir growled. Assoon as he arrived, he vanished. Soral quickly dived underStarbinder's wing. Flare once again took to the skies withher turtle. "I'll protect you, and from now on guard youinside the cave."Any they, too rose to the skies, returning to the cave, with falcons they caught on the way.
