Life is your only chance to make an impact on the human race. Some people want to get their job done as quickly as possible, and some want to leave a mark on human kind. Personally, I want to make an imapact on the world.
Moving one month ago to Los Angeles made me nervous, it was a challenge I was eager to accept. Maybe to some the city seems overcrowded and scary but I see it as an adventure. Then again I am quite a positive person.
I am Amber, an 18 year old girl with high hopes on life. I have brown hair and brown-hazel eyes with slight curves. I come from a very small town in Oregon. My whole family and extended family lives there so to say that when I moved was a HUGE deal to them, is an understatement. To be succesful though, I believe you must take risks and leave your confort zone, so that is what I did.
I attend college at WFIU (The worldwide fashion industry university) and I am studying to become a fashion buyer. A fashion buyer basically travels the world spotting trends, buying the clothes, then showing who you work for what you bought and why. It is something I have always wanted to do, try to put diversity in the fashion industry so certain clothing types aren't over-looked such as the punk-rock side of everything. The campus is in Beverly Hills, but I live about 15 minutes away from there in a place called "Rolling Hills." You know where all the celebrities live? Well I live right across the street from there, in a gated neighborhood, to own smaller houses, they are very nice but are made for less people. How can a college student afford this you may wonder. Well, basically my dad died 5 years ago from lung cancer, and when he found out it was deadly, and spreading he left me and my brother all the money he had saved for us, to help us through our whole life. I am using a portion of it on buying the house, and saving the rest.
The only thing I am a little nervous about is the fact that I moved out here 4 months early and I don't know anyone here. I have a few neighbors one right next to me and the others scattered a little further out, so hopefully they are friendly. I drove my car here so it was parked in the garage and the moving truck had already came and had been unloaded, I just have to unpack and buy furniture but I have 4 months to do that.
I had been in LA for two weeks and my next door neighbors are supposed to come back today. I only knew that because I had ran into my (quite attractive) other neighbor Dylan and his buddies yesterday who lived down the street who told me that a band around my age from Australia lived right next to me. I was super pumped, honestly I couldn't wait to see what they look like. I was super nervous but also really excited.
I woke up from my nap and it was 1PM. Whoops. I peeked out my window looking to the right of my house no sign of the my neighbors yet. I really didn't care though because I had more important things to worry about. Food. I didn't have food at all. Mostly because I was way to lazy to actually get out of my house. But, I decided it was time, I actually had to go to the grocery store. I got on my grey nike sweats that sinched around the ankles and were a bit loose around my hips, grabbed the first sweatshirt I saw which happened to be my FIFA world cup sweatshirt (I used to play soccer) threw my thick, curly hair in a messy bun put on vans and walked threw the connecting door to garage. I was going to put on a little mascara, but my long eyelashes made up for it.
I put in the code to open the gate, and turned down my lane, watching as the gate closed. I decided to get pizza from Danny's (the local best pizza place ever) along with my groceries because I really wasn't in the mood to cook. Usually I eat healthy, becasue I like to keep in good shape and being 5,3" it isn't very easy but soccer helped.
As I made the last turn past Dyan's house into my section I noticed a SUV sitting in the neighbors driveway .I didn't see them yet but I was so excited, I can finally meet them. I pulled my car into the driveway and noticed it was already 2:30. I unloaded all my groceries and sat my pizza down on the kitchen table walking outside to grab my mail from my mailbox. I grabbed the mail and was flipping through it when I heard a guy say, "So your the new neighbor." My head shot up and I saw him. He had dark brown hair and a shirt that said 'Never On My Mind' with a frowny face in the O. He was smiling and had a tattoo on his forearm.
He walked towards me,"I'm Calum," he said smiling. He had such a contagious smile it would be impossible for someone not to smile back.
"I'm Amber." I said smiling.
"Hold on here let me grab the rest of the boys." Calum said opening the door peeking his head into the house.
"LUKE GET SOME PANTS ON," I heard Calum yell, "ASHTON, STOP ARRANGING YOUR BANDANAS, BOYS COME MEET AMBER."
I heard someone else yell, "IS SHE HOT? Calum turned back slowly, his face red. I was blushing staring at my feet.
3 more boys ran out of the house, first the one I assumed was Ashton becasue he had a bandana on. Next a guy with blond hair who was super tall and had very blue eyes who I learned was Luke, then I a guy with red hair and a Metallica t-shirt named Michael. They all introduced themsleves and then chaos errupted. Michael pulled down Luke's pants which was extremely hilarious because already nervous and quiet Luke just turned bright red, then Ashton lost one of his drum sticks and I stood there thinking they should be on a reality TV show.
"CALLUUUUM tell Ashton to stop being so loud." yelled Luke.
Calum turned to me and said, "Can I just move in with you."
I laughed and said that they can come over for dinner of they would like tonight. They all agreed and I reached for the doorhandle I heard Michael say, "Oh and by the way, we are in a band."
