I woke up in a strange room. I looked around the room and saw Max, Diana, and Sarah in beds near mine. I made a fist in frustration and irritation. I looked down and nothing was happening. My fist did nothing. Not good.

"Guys. Guys!" I attempted to wake them up.

Max shot up, "hmm?"

"Look." I made a fist over a puddle of water and nothing happened.

"Why isn't anything happening? Shouldn't the water be boiling?"

"Yeah, I don't know why it's not."

Diana and Sarah woke up. "What's going on?" Diana yawned.

"Look." I held my fist over the water and nothing happened.

"Why isn't your power working?" Sarah asked.

"I have no idea." I released my hand and looked at them. "Do you guys still have you powers?"

"Let's see." Max did her wrist twisting thingy an the water didn't move an inch. "My power's gone."

Diana did her power and nothing happened. "Mine too."

Sarah did her power and the results were no different. "What happened to our powers? Do you still think that we're mermaids?" Sarah asked anxiously.

I walked over to the puddle and dipped my finger in. 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10. Nothing. I began to tear up. "We're not mermaids anymore." I plopped back onto my bed. I started to cry and we formed a group hug.

"I can't believe we were mermaids got three days. Three stinking days."

"We'll never get to swim with the dolphins."

"We can't go on anymore long swims with out going up for air."

We sat and sobbed for about five minutes before the evil marine biologist walked in. "Hello, girls. How do you humans feel?"

"What did you do to us?" Diana asked coldly.

"Just removed what made you mermaids."

"What was that? How? Why?"

"You had something that triggered your cells to mutate and I got rid of that. I just did some surgery, found it, and removed it. You guys were dangerous. We had to get rid of your powers."

"We weren't dangerous. We had our powers under control."

"No, you were getting them under control. We just did you a favor and removed the need to do that."

"You didn't need to do that. It wasn't a favor, it was torture."

"You girls are free to go. Just get out whenever you please. We also removed those dangerous gems from you."

I felt my bare neck. The necklace that Cameron made me was gone. "Did you let them touch?" I asked.

"Yes. We've seen what they can do. Teenagers can't be trusted with those things."

"Give them back," Max demanded.

"We can't let you have that power."

"Give them back!" Max screamed.

"No." She walked out and Max screamed.

"Why is she such a jerk?! Those were our powers and our necklaces!"

"I know Cameron made those necklaces for us. I want them back and I want to be a mermaid again."

"How? Wait a whole month and become mermaids in the moon pool again?"
