Lily POV

"Marls!!" I squeal as I see my best friend on platform 9 ¾. We run at each other and jump into a big hug. "I haven't seen you in forever!" Marls yells, fully knowing that we are drawing stares from everyone around us. "I know! It's been too long. How was your summer!" I ask as we walk arm and arm along the platform. "It was fun! We went to Belgium for a bit to see my grandparents. I also saw Alice a few times and I played quidditch with my brother a lot. I need to keep in shape for the upcoming quidditch season!" Marlene is a chaser on the Gryffindor quidditch team. She is amazing and I wish that I could play as well as her. I don't really play, but I like following the game.

"So how was your summer?" Marls asks me. I sigh. "It was fine. Petunia called me a freak a bunch of times, Severus came around and I slammed the door in his face. Oh, and we went to Switzerland for a few weeks, It's really nice there." "Oh, well we're going to Hogwarts now, so you'll be fine. No Petunia here!" Marls says to me. I shrug. "But Severus is." We stand in silence for a moment taking in our surroundings. "Oh my Merlin!" I gasp. "What?" Marls quickly turns to me. "This is our last year! This is the last time that we are going to be boarding the Hogwarts express." I say sadly. "Oh right. That makes me so sad." Marls sighs.

We walk over to Marls' parents, Michael and Melissa. My own parents didn't come today. We agreed that it wouldn't be safe for them to come drop me off because they are muggles. Marls takes her trunks and says goodbye to her parents. "Send an owl when you arrive!" Melissa calls after us. Marls rolls her eyes but gives her parents a thumbs up as we walk away. We board the train and place our trunks on the rack. We help each other because they are super heavy to carry.

We walk through the hallway and find Alice, Mary, and Dorcas sitting together in a compartment near the back of the train. As soon as we enter, our three other best friends jump up and tackle us with hugs. We all squeal and catch up with each other about our summers. "I went to France with my mum and dad! It was beautiful!" Mary says, beaming. "We went to New York! Some of my family lives there, so we visited them. New York is amazing!" Dorcas says in her sing-songy voice. "Our family went to Greece, and the ruins were amazing! Ancient Grecian wizards were fascinating!" Alice says. She is obsessed with ancient wizards and witches. I am not obsessed, but I have to admit, they are pretty interesting.

I check the time and quickly jump up! "Oh! I forgot to tell you guys! I'm head girl!" To my surprise they don't seem surprised, but they do look happy for me. I look around confused. "Did you hear what I said?" Dorcas laughs. "We did hear, but we all knew it was going to be you! Congrats!" They all get up and hug me. "Ok ok!" I laugh. "I have to go talk to the prefects. Oh! Do any of you know who head boy is?" They all shrug and shake their heads no. "Ok, go! Tell us who's head boy when you get back!" Mary calls out as I walk out the door.

As I'm walking through the hallway, Remus steps out of his compartment. I'm friends with him, but not with the other marauders (that stupid name that James, Peter, Sirius, and call themselves).

"Remus!" I call out after him. "I got head girl!" "Congratulations! I didn't doubt you would get it." He smiles at me and I notice that the badge on his chest has a P for prefect. "You didn't get head boy?" I ask in surprise. "But you're the only one who makes sense!" Remus laughs. "Well who is head boy then?" I ask curiously. Remus laughs. "You'll find out soon enough. But you're in for a crazy year." I raise one eyebrow at Remus but he doesn't say anything else.

I silently hope that it isn't Severus. It can't be though. He's rude and irresponsible. He doesn't get very good grades and teachers don't particularly like him. He's obsessed with the dark arts and spends all of his time with those wannabe death eaters. I can't really think of anyone else that could be head boy. I mean I really thought it would be Remus. There isn't really anyone from Gryffindor or Slytherin that I could imagine being head boy. It's probably someone from Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I don't know many of the boys in our year from those houses, but I'm sure Dumbledore picked someone responsible.

We approach the compartment at the front of the train that is specifically designated for head girl, head boy, and all the other prefects. Remus steps in first. I wait for a moment. Time to see who is head boy! I step inside the compartment and see him.
