💫|HARRY'S POV|💫

April 25, 6:45pm

I decided that I could see Daniel again. I haven't talked to him in a few weeks, but I've finally worked everything out with Louis and he trusts me to hang out with him. I missed him. Despite everything that happened, Daniel was still important to me and I still cared for him.

"Louis's really okay with this?" Daniel asked me. I smiled confidently and nodded.

"He trusts me. Now I just need to trust that all of your kisses and hand holding is over." I told him. He sighed and nodded.

"I miss it very much, but I care about you too much to risk ruining something you love." He said. I can hear the sadness in his voice that we won't be dating again, but that's how it has to be.

"I really appreciate that." I said, taking a bite of the apple slices I brought with me to his house.

"So, what's happening with your mum?" He asked. I sigh softly. I didn't tell him about what Jay said. I've been trying not to think about it the past two days. I don't know what to do or say when the time comes. I just know I want Jack put away forever and I want to never have to see him again. Ever.

"Well, we have to go to court next month." I start. "The judge decided that the testimony I gave against him and the evidence my mum gave him wasn't enough to keep Jack away for good and let him out on probation." I told him.

"What?! That's insane. After everything he's done to you two?! That's bullshit." He says passionately. I really love the fact that Daniel is so protective of me and my mother. He really is the bestest friend in the world.

"So what's it gonna take then?"

"Louis is coming to testify as well. Jay says that with an eye witness testimony from someone outside of the home, it would be beneficial to getting him locked up for good. It'll prove that there's actually been real abuse going on and nothing that was just "taken too far" as the judge put it." I explained to him. Jay said that in court with my mother, Jack said the only time my mother got hurt was when she got too drunk to function and the only time he hurt me was when he would discipline me. He also said the sexual abuse never happened and unfortunately I couldn't prove that happened so the judge dismissed it.

"I can't believe you still have to go through this, Haz." He says. I nod in agreement. I watch as Daniel moves closer to me and places his hand on mine. I look back up at him.

"You deserve to be free from this, to be happy." He says. I smile at him.

"Thanks. Ya know, you had a lot to do with the happiness I did get during those times." I told him honestly. Being with Danny was like living a different life. I was happy. I could pretend I had a stable family.

"Did you ever think about us?" Danny asked. "Ya know, after I moved?"

"Yeah, like every second of every day." I admitted. I was heartbroken when he broke up with me and devastated when he moved. I wanted him back so bad.

"We were really close." He smiled. I nodded.

"We were each other's first kiss." He says. I blushed gently as I thought back to that day. We were in Daniel's basement, going through a box of his video games. He told me that I was his best friend and that he loved me. I kissed him right there on the floor.

"I always thought we'd be something more, but I knew nothing more would come of it because of everything going on." I said. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"Yeah.."

It got silent after that. Daniel stared down into his lap. I knew there was something he wanted to say, but was holding back. I furrowed my eyebrows at him.
