At the start of the monarchy, there was only one king, his name was Xeniseus. He was a fair ruler wishing only to have happy subjects. One day, the king drew ill, putting the people in distress. The king had no one to continue ruling his kingdom for him. One day people started offering to help the king in search of a supposed miracle cure. Reluctant to let them go but, too sick to refuse, he allowed them to go. A lot of people went in search, but none ever returned, each day more people went and each day, more people never came back. Soon almost half the kingdom was gone, and the king was growing sicker and sicker each day. Despite his people's complaints, the king insisted he go look for the cure himself, the king left the kingdom. Not long after that, the king found a mountain range looming over him almost entirely blocking the sun's light. Undeterred by the mountain, the king set to climbing it as fast as his frail body could, slowly advancing over the mountains only stopping to eat and rest. Eventually, the king made it over the mountain to spot people running around joyfully. At first, the king thought they were the adventurers who had gone looking for him and strode up to them, soon, however, he noticed that they weren't his own men and were in fact centaurs running amok along the field. Then, one centaur noticed the king and walked up to him.
"Welcome Xeniseus, I have been expecting you," the king, flabbergasted that the centaur knew his name, stared at the creature never daring to look away.
"Forgive me", the centaur said, "I forgot to introduce myself I am Fresis, oracle of the centaurs you see here", feeling embarrassed by how rude he was, the king went to tell his name only to remember that Fresis already knew it. Fresis gestured for the king to follow and so he did into what looked like a home, only it had weird tools he had never seen in his life. Noticing the king's amazement Fresis notified him of all the tools uses "that one there is for cleaning hooves", he said pointing to what looked like a dagger only blunter and small
"and that one is what I use to help tell me the future", exclaimed the centaur, clearly excited to have guests over. "Now," Fresis said, "I am going to... do something don't follow if you want to live." The king, curious of this comment waited until Fresis was out of sight, then followed him out and to what looked like a meeting.
Unable to hear what they were saying, Xeniseus crept closer until he could only just hear them.
"We have noticed the unpleasant scent of a human in the fields today, does anyone know why," a strong looking centaur, possibly the leader said,
"Yes, I have noticed it too, so it wasn't just me," another centaur exclaimed
"Whoever is found potentially harboring a human will be put to death by fire effective immediately," the leader declared, "inspections will be held tomorrow" he shouted to all the other centaurs once again.
Hearing this, Xeniseus tried to sneak away only to step on a rather dry twig. The twig cracked like a bone-cracking against the path, resonating around the entire area, "Who goes there!" the leader shouted, aiming his arrow at where the sound had come from, just before he fired the arrow however, Fresis jumped in its path as it sailed through the air and slammed into his body. The centaurs, enraged by this, all galloped over the now dead body of Fresis right to where the king was and in their blinded rage trampled over the king and thus, killed him. As his soul exited his body, the king of gods, Zeus came down from the heavens of Olympus and visited him, "you were a good king and thus, I, the highest of the gods, will let you live with us in Olympus and enjoy a life of comfort and pleasure," whilst Zeus was taking him up, however, he realized it was unfair to have only one good king live in Olympus and decided all kings that were good in their life, he would take up to Olympus himself. Meanwhile, the kingdom was in great peril with no one to govern, however, one night the entire kingdom looked up and saw the first star. Somehow, they knew that was their king watching over them and that all was going to be all right.
