1 MONTH TO THE PRESENT DAY...

[ HENRY'S POV ]

Lucky to be alive? Hardly.

I can't think of any thing worse then being fine while Jasper's not, especially in his state. Not lucky, unfair is more of a fitting word. I know it's probaly the force field thing that made me stronger against them, but in light of the situation I can't help but feel bad. Jasper didn't sign up to this, I shouldn't have brought him into this mess. My mess.

I perch on the desk opposite him, my eyes not leaving him once - I can't bear to see him like this. He looks dead, so lifeless. The way no matter what I do, he hasn't woken up. Maybe I'm overreacting, he will be fine, but it was close. So much closer than any time before. No, I can't think of this when there's people out there to stop, including the lunatic that stole the drugs that could do who knows what. So yeah, this really isn't the time to get emotional, there will be a time for that. I just need to focus on everything else, I don't have all the time in the world.

Adrenaline swimming through my veins, I tear my eyes away from him towards the many draws beside me. I'm still in my suit so no need to change then. Two zappers should also be enough, but I need something better, something that could defend. I need to be prepared is all I can think about, who knows what is out there - I take a silver shield from the wall attaching it to my back. I feel better, but not enough.

A small groan comes from Jasper's direction, causing me to once again let my gaze fall back to him. He's pale and there's bruising under his hair from the blow, like Blake said it could have gone worse. But it could have gone better as well. He can't be unrevenged even though he will be fine, it was too close this time. My hands move through the draw without my mind taking control, and before I can think logically I find myself clasping a large metal object. Just the kind of protection I need, I guess. I'm not a monster, I said it before I can't turn into one. However, like the brunette said this city will never face justice and sometimes you need more of a threat. A gun.

*Vibrate Noise*

Jasper's phone rings from his pocket, and I go over to pick it up. Charlotte - I can't leave her on ring even despite how much I want to right now, not after this. My grip closes round it plucking it up.

'And now for Stage Two!' A voice cries through the phone, one's that defiantly not Char's, one that's a man's. I press it up to my ears confused by the seemingly angry voice towards me, as a loud whirring noise sounds. It grows louder and louder matched with a scream. Charlotte's.
