𝐈𝐈𝐈. Chapter 65: "A soul for a soul,"

Thanos and Gamora arrive on the Barren planet of Vormir, with the help of the space stone. The two of them stood at the base of a great mountain, Thanos turns towards Gamora, who's behind him, "The stone had better be up there. For your sister's sake," He warns.

As Thanos and Gamora scaled the mountain, they encounter a cloaked figure when they reach the top. "Welcome, Thanos, son of Alars. Gamora, daughter of Thanos," the Stonekeeper greets.

     "You know us?" Thanos asks

     "It is my curse to know all who journey here," the Stonekeeper replies.

     "Where is the Soul Stone?" Thanos demands.

     "You should know, it extracts a terrible price," The wraith warns.

     "I am prepared," Thanos said as the Stonekeeper lands gently on the ground.

     "We all think that at first," the Stone-keeper says, stepping out of the shadows, They're able to see its face now, Red Skull is what he was called in the past, now he's just a figment of who he used to be.

     "We are all wrong," he says leading Thanos and Gamora.

     "How is it you know this place so well?" Thanos asks

    "A lifetime ago, I, too, sought the stones. I even held one in my hand. But it cast me out, banished me here. Guiding others to a treasure I cannot possess," he answers when they reach a cliff, "What you seek lies in front of you. As does what you fear,"

     "What's this?" Gamora asks as she looks down the cliff.

    "The price. The soul holds a special place among the Infinity Stones. You might say it has certain wisdom," Referring to all the stones, he finishes with, "All of them do, I'm sure," 

     "Tell me what it needs," Thanos says,

     "To ensure that whoever possesses it understands its power. The stone demands a sacrifice,"

     "Of what?" Thanos questions.

     "In order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love. A soul for a soul." The keeper informs.

Gamora becomes amused and starts to laugh at Thanos, "All my life, I dreamed of a day, a moment when you got what you deserved. And I was always so disappointed. But now... You kill and torture and you call it mercy. The universe has judged you. You asked it for a prize, and it told you no. You failed. And do you wanna know why? Because you love nothing. No one," Gamora taunts.

Thanos turns around to face Gamora, revealing to her, his tears, "No," he lets out in a whisper.

     "Really?" "Tears?" Gamora says it was her belief that he was crying because he failed.

Seeing Thanos' true intentions, The stone keeper intervenes, "They're not for him,"

Thanos makes his way to approach Gamora, making her walk back, "No," she starts, "This isn't love," Gamora says,

     "I ignored my destiny once. I cannot do that again. Even for you." Thanos says.

Gamora quickly takes her switchblade from Thanos's belt and attempts to stab herself, without her to sacrifice he wouldn't get the stone. There was no pain however, Gamora looks down feeling nothing in her hands. Thanos uses the Reality Stone to turn the switchblade into bubbles, "I'm sorry, little one," Thanos says.

Thanos then proceeds to grab Gamora's arm dragging her towards the edge of the cliff.

Despite her frantic screams, Thanos throws Gamora off the cliff to her death. Thanos tearfully shuts his eyes. When he opens them he finds himself lying in shallow water, He then lifts his right hand to see that he now has the soul stone.
