Stalin rose to power as the General Secretary in Communist Russia. On the 18th of December 1879 in the Russian village of Gori, Georgia, Losif Vissarionovich Dzugashvilli now known as Joseph Stalin was conceived. Though he was never a strong speaker like Vladimir Lenin or an intellectual like Leon Trotsky, Stalin excelled in the mundane operations of the revolution, calling meetings, publishing leaflets and organizing strikes and demonstrations. While he was serving in the Russian Civil war before overseeing Soviet Russia's establishment in 1992. Stalin gained leadership of the country following the death of Vladimir Lenin in 1924. The 25th of October 1917 saw the transfer of all of the political power to the Soviets. During the Russian Civil war that followed Joseph Stalin built connections with many of the Red Army Generals and later acquired military connections of his own. During Lenin's semi-retirement Stalin made a troika alliance with Lev Kamenev and Grigory Zinoviev in May of 1992, against Leon Trotsky. When Lenin died Stalin was officially hailed as Lenin's successor and took Lenin's role as the leader of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union itself.
