It had been a few days since the encounter in the mall and Ka'ren was still uneasy about the whole ordeal. It threw her mind into shambles, how calm he was about everything. It wasn't what she expected of him at all.

"Nurse Ka'ren, Dr. Jones wants you to check on the patient in room 307" Nurse Michelle said in a tone laced with attitude.

She started working at Mercy Hospital, a few weeks ago and had no issues except for with Michelle. The nurse had been continuously trying to pick with her and, she was starting to tip-toe onto her breaking point.

She tried being the bigger person but it just wasn't going to cut it with this one. Ka'ren walked over to the counter and sat her clipboard down before, yanking Michelle close to her.

"Listen bitch, I been trying to keep it real cute and professional witcho ass but you wanna keep playin' I get off in fifteen minutes if you wanna take it outside to the parking lot we can do that. But, whatchu not finna do is keep tryna start little petty shit with me. I will mop the flo' witcho ass do you hear me" Ka'ren spoke through her gritted teeth making the nurse nod quickly.

Ka'ren let her go and straightened up her smocks before picking up her clipboard. She turned to walk away but, she felt she hadn't done enough.

"Before you tryna' beef wit somebody make sure yo lace front ain't lifting hoe. Now have a terrible terrible rest of your day" She spoke in an irritated tone- strutting away into the patient's room.

She knocked before walking into the room. Her presence immediately grabbed the young male's attention. He was dark-skinned and had a bottom grill with a couple of small tattoos scattered across his face.

The gentleman wasn't ugly by far— he just wasn't her type. She didn't like a man who was too "pretty", Riri liked them rough around the edges.

Her eyes glanced down at the clipboard that was located on the table. She did a glance over the information before speaking.

"Hi Mr. Smith, My name is Nurse James. I'm just going to change your bandages and check your vitals. Is that ok?" She spoke in a soft tone. The gentleman nodded at the request.

She gave a quick smile before, walking over to the skin to wash her hands and put on gloves. Scrubbing her hands— she noticed that the paper towels were out. Bending down into a squat to open the cabinet.

"Damn" She hears the man mumble under his breath. A light chuckle left her mouth before she shook her head. Her hand grabbed the fresh roll of paper towels— rewashing her hands and drying them clean.
