Not So Bad After All

Sara was having a bad day. A really, REALLY, bad day.

It all started in the morning. She woke up at 6 in the morning, due to a horrible screech for her balcony only to find that her neighbour's cat had killed a bird and left it there. Then, after killing the mess, she went to shower, only for the water to stop when she was lathered with soap. On calling the building maintenance, she found out that there was some problems with the pipes and that it would take at least half an hour to fix. So she spent an uncomfortable half an hour lounging in the bathroom. After a hasty shower, she started to get dressed and scorched her favourite blue top while ironing. Then she burnt her breakfast. Then she lost her keys, which took 20 minutes to find and finally when she stepped out of her apartment door, the heel of her shoe broke. Cursing, she changed into her stilettos which were a nightmare to work in and finally strode out of her apartment complex.

Finally, she reached her workplace after narrowly escaping being run over by a boy on a skateboard and she was already ready for the day to be over. Slumping over her desk she was just anticipating some much needed peace and quiet, when her boss called her up. Of course she had forgotten about the important merger they had to take care of today.

Her boss was a jolly old man who was a darling to work for on most days but today he seemed out of her mind due to nervousness. Apparently, the CEO of the company they were merging with was ruthless and needed everything to be perfect.

"Ofcourse he did!" Sara thought to herself. She just couldn't seem to catch a break. With everything arranged and done, she just had one more task to perform. Greet the CEO and bring him to the conference room.

"Just bear with it a little longer Sara, and then you can finally sit down and take off these heels from hell," Sara thought. She was thinking of asking her boss to let her leave early today.

"One more task Sara, focus," she told herself. Her phone rang. It was from the reception. The CEO had arrived. Sara hurriedly went down to the lobby to greet him and bring him up.

"Hello, Mr. Phillips, wel- welcome." Sara stuttered. Shit, he was gorgeous. She was a bit taken aback. Wait, wasn't the CEO about 60 yrs old?? This man couldn't have been more than early 30s!

However the gorgeous man moved aside and an elder man walked up infront of her.  "Hello. Thank you for coming down to greet us." He said with a small smile.

Okay, so THIS man was the CEO. Sara composed herself and shook hands with him. "Of course, Mr. Phillips. Please come this way." She said and led them towards the conference room. " If he is the CEO, then who is the other man? The gorgeous one?" She thought to herself.

She opened the door to the conference room and said, " This way please. The others are waiting for you."  With a thanks, Mr. Phillips entered the room. The other man however remained outside.

" Are you not going to enter sir?" She asked him. "No" was the short reply she got. Sara did not know what to do anymore. She stood there for moment and then asked tentatively, " Um, excuse me, but could you please tell me who you are if you don't mind? It's just that we were not informed about anyone else coming other than Mr. Phillips."

"I'm his bodyguard," he replied, shortly.

Sara was a little taken aback. She did not know the CEO  had or even required a bodyguard. Whatever, it was none of her business. She paused and then said, " Do you want to sit down somewhere for a bit or are you going to stand outside the door? It's going to take them a while."

The bodyguard looked at her and said, "It's okay, I'm fine."

"Well then. I'm going to go to my desk. Feel free to come look for me if you need anything." She started leaving.

While walking away, she could see the gorgeous bodyguard definitely check her out on the glass window. She suddenly felt good about wearing the stilettos. They made her legs and hips look great. With an extra sway to her hips, Sara left.

Maybe, the day was not so bad after all.
