They say that I am a "troubled" child, right from birth, they never say it to my face though, but I always heard it loud and clear through the wind. I don't know when or how it began, but I know if someone mentioned my name somewhere, the wind would carry it to me.
I never understood what they meant by "troubled", I look like every other fifteen year old, I talked normal, attended classes in the public school our little town had. What's worse is that my parents says I'm "troubled", I don't have evidence that they actually say it, since I can't say the wind brings me the information.
"At least Cory isn't like his sister", the wind carried my dad's voice upstairs, where I was having a sleepover with my only friends; Serine Delta, and Kristine. Sadly Mom and Dad asked them to watch me in school. I was very mad once the wind brought the information, but once again I couldn't do anything about it.
"Hey Cora!" Kristine snapped her fingers in my face.
"You zoned out again" Serine said looking at me skeptically.
"Sorry I was just lost" I smiled at them. They shrugged and got back to watching the movie.
Excusing myself, I went to the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror, I looked at my face, it was similar to everyone else's in my family, except for my eyes, my dad had blue eyes and my mom mint green, Cory had mint green also, but me, I had oily black.
"I don't see how she's "troubled" though" Kristine said. Thanks to the wind I heard everything loud and clear.
"She killed 'Skit', her pet rabbit at age three" Delta said. I remember that day, I was petting Skit one second and the next he was a dead bloody mess.
"She slit her wrist once"
"She has never cried in her entire life" Serine added quietly.
"Her mom miscarried two children before Cory, Cora wanted to be an only child for reasons best known to her, so she made sure her mom miscarried when she was five and seven" Dta continued.
I felt my anger rise, I gripped the wash bowl very tight.
"They had to keep Aunt Marie somewhere far from Cora the whole nine months, even when they came back, they made sure Cora was never alone with Cory" That Delta sure knew how to talk.
"Woah" Kristine mumbled.
"Once they found her trying to bury Cory alive"
"I don't believe that" Kristine said with her voice shaking.
The mirror starting shaking, I don't know if I gripped it in anger.
"Let's go ask Aunt Marie then" Delta suggested.
I heard their soft foot falls leave the room,
"Aunt Marie, can you tell us more about Cora?"
"Where is she?" Mom asked
"Sleeping" Delta lied.
"I'm sorry for asking you to watch after Cora, bit there is no one else to ask, we don't know what to do with her anymore, she is a sweet child sometimes, we love her, but she's a threat." Mom said, her voice laced with tiredness.
" Anyway Cora's case is beyond us, her father and I are planning to send her away, to get help"
My rage skyrocketed, the mirror shattered.
"It is for the best, she's too troubled".
That broke me, the only thing on my mind was to destroy, the house started shaking, there were screams, but the only thing I could hear was "troubled".
The house started to collapse, I didn't care, I wanted to destroy all of them. I went downstairs and found them struggling, crying and trying to leave the house. But I didn't let them leave, they would pay for all the times they called me that, all I wanted was a normal life, normal high school experience, and a normal family.
But they won't let me,they all had to die like Skit.
The house finally crumbled down, bringing everyone with it.
I guess I am troubled.
