"Princess Y/n, miss, please get up before your mother still sees you in bed, ma'am." My maid, Anne, pleaded with me to get up. I groaned a 'thank you' before pushing myself off my pillow.
Rubbing my eyes, My eyes take a second before they can focus around my room.
"Oh, I have almost forgotten! Today is the big masquerade ball to find the most handsome prince for the most fairest princess!" She cooed and pulled me off my bed and to the bath, filled to the brim with bubbles.
She undressed me, then pushed me lightly into the tub. She grabbed the scrubber and started to scrub my skin to get any and all dirt off. She hummed her favorite song while getting my arms with the scrubber, then proceeded to put soap into my hair. After a couple of minutes of lathering my hair, she scooped up some of the bath water into her hands, then poured it on my hair, getting the soap off.
Then she hurried me out of the bath and back to my bedroom to get me changed. The corset was absolutely awful! It restricts my airflow to try and make my breasts bigger, but my stomach smaller! "I am sorry ma'am, but you know your mother." We both chuckled, her finishing the corset with a nice, but tight bow.
[A//n: Any and all outfits I put in here, you can change the color of you want. The world is your mfing oyster! I'm not putting "change the color if you want" under all the outfits because I'm lazy and it takes too much time! Back to it :) ]
The aftermath looked good, but I wish to wear something less restrictive and something more lose and free. "You look beautiful, ma'am. I hope your mother thinks the same too." I smile at her, and speak of the devil! Mother struts in here, looks at me up and down.
"Anne, dear. I hope that's not the outfit you are putting my daughter in during her ball!" She glared at her, but I spoke up. "Mother, this is my day dress. We will change before the ball. I do not want to ruin it with a stain!" I clearly lied, but she could not see though it, thank my lucky stars.
"Good. I expect you to look breathtaking later. Now, I am off to go and speak to your father. Ta-ta dear." She turned around and waved over her shoulder before going back down the hallway.
"Thank you, ma'am! She's got the devil's glare in her eye when something is not to her liking and I get speechless." I nod and place my hand onto Anne's, empathetically.
"It is okay, Anne. She can be rude always, but you are doing your best. At the very least, I can see that." She returns with a warm smile.
"Thank you, madam. Now run along, I have got to tidy up your room before she comes back." Worry laced into her voice, I nod and walk off, the dress making it a bit hard to move. You would think that since I have been doing this for 18 years, I would be used to the weight, but they just keep getting heavier and heavier every year.
I walk down the corridor to the grand staircase. I can just picture all of those people in masks looking up and me and if I am being honest, I am not ready for all of those eyes on me. Am I really ready to be a queen?!
— Cameron Pov because whhhyyyyy not? :) —
"Oh Cameron! Isn't Great Britain just lovely?" My mother was a taken to all Great Britain had to offer, I thought Nieuw Zeeland looked better, but I wasn't going to break her spirits.
[A//n: That's what New Zealand was named until the 1700's, So no, I'm not the dumb brain :]]"Yes mother, it is quaint here." I try to sound as enthusiastic as I possibly could. "I am just glad to be off that retched ship. Everyone was not feeling well and it smelt rotten." We chuckled, looking out of our carriages windows.
My father could not make it, he was badly sick and bedridden. He wished he could visit Great Britain again to see his old friend, King Richards. That is actually why we're here, for the masquerade ball he has put together for his daughter.
"You have your mask, Cameron?" My mother reminded me for the 50th time. "Yes mother, it's in my bag." I patted my hand on the bag, she just smiled in response.
"My lady, my lordship, we're here!" Our coachmen informed us. I got out first, then helped my mother out. We interlocked arms and slowly walked into the entrance. A servant bend down at us, then gave us welcoming smiles.
"Prince and Queen McKay, welcome to Great Britain and it is a pleasure to have you in King Richards castle. Please come in, I will show you to him." He bent over again then raised his hand out and to the side, offering to show us to his location.
My mother and I nodded to each other and took a couple of steps inside. He frantically walked in front of us to take the lead. We walked up a grand staircase while saying facts about the castle and about who was royalty in it before King Richards and his family.
"On your left, you can see Princess Y/n's room. This royal masquerade ball is thrown for her finding a husband and taking over this kingdom. She is said to be the most fairest in all the kingdom. Everybody loves her and wants to see her queen more than the current queen." He snorted, then cleared his throat.
"Please, do not tell the queen that I said that! She will stick my head on a pike outside the castle! I beg of you!" My mother and I looked at each other, then laughed.
"We will not, you have nothing to bother over." She reassured him, causing him to sigh quietly with relief. "Thank you, Queen McKay. You have my most sincere gratitude!" My eyes rolled as he cleared his throat a second time before he continued to tell us facts about every step we take.
We finally make it to a closed door at the ending of the hallway. "He is in here. One second." He turned around and knocked 3 times on the door. "Uhh? Come in!" A scruff voice called from behind the door.
The servant opened the door wide open and held the door open for us.
"Queen and Prince McKay are here, my King." He bowed, then we both walked through the door.
"Ahh yes! Of course! The McKays are here. My favorite Queen and... where is Quinton?" He looked around us, trying to see if my father was behind us.
"Uhh, My father is very sick and needed to stay home in Nieuw Zeeland until he can get back to being a proper king. He sends his regards." Richards looked disappointed, but then shook it off.
"That's okay! I will send him a letter later! Come, make yourself at home!"
