Asteria

You'll never know how important sleep is unless you've been deprived of it. Standing for long hours while brewing coffee would make my legs numb and all I would wish would be a 5 minute rest so that my numb legs could relax a little. But the only relaxation which helped me recover my energy was sleep.

The bed was feeling way more comfortable than it usually did. I cozily snuck myself into the sheets. But my senses caught something off. It wasn't smelling like me. It was.. Something different. I opened my eyes and a wave of emotion filled me as I found myself in a different yet familiar room. I immediately checked for my clothes.

Thank God.

Next, my eyes landed on the man who was sleeping on the sofa.

Is that Alex?

I squinted my eyes to clearly see him.

He's really here.

My lips spread into a smile as I watched him sleeping sound. My joy knew no bounds. I became excited and zealous all of a sudden. And then it happened. My mind rewinded the memories before I had passed out.

We were part of the group who were supposed to work and serve in the special arrangement made for tonight. My hands and feet started feeling cold.

What to do I'm definitely going to get kicked out of this job.

Worry engulfed me. I checked the clock. It was around 2 am.

It was 7 pm when I..

Wait, we drank coffee. How on earth did we get drunk?

Something was odd about it. Either someone wanted to do this deliberately or someone had played a prank. Either way, it wasn't us.

Heavens. Ethan was to prepare the dinner for the guests.

I immediately snapped out of my thoughts and wore my heels before I tiptoed through the room.

I glanced at Alex's sleeping form and then averted my gaze away as I reached the door. I lightly turned the knob but it didn't open. I tried to turn it the other way in case I was turning it in the wrong direction but again, it didn't open.

Fucking door.

I tried to shake it a little if it opens but before I could, a hand surprisingly came from behind me and it held on to my hand which was holding the knob.

My breath stopped. I smelled coffee from the man behind me. His hand grabbed mine and took my hand off the knob. I turned around. Alex was awake, his hairs not at all messy because he had probably woken up in the same position when he had gone to sleep.

Unlike me.

"What's wrong?" he asked, his voice a little hoarse after waking up. And I so freaking loved it. He was casually dressed in a V neck t-shirt and some shorts. Words stuck in my throat even if I was forcing them to come out.

I gulped down the anxiety and nodded my head in a no when I concluded that the words in my throat were having a tea party.

"Hi" he whispered as he looked into my eyes.

Why does my body keep tingling?

"Hi.."

He continued to gaze me intently. I was starting to feel intimidated.

"I was.. Thirsty." I tried to make an excuse with the door situation.

"There's water," he pointed to the jug kept over the counter table.
