Chapter Twelve

ARIA LEFT THE Great Hall earlier than everyone else, plotting her revenge as she skipped down to the Slytherin common room. She planned to wait until the traitor arrived with her new friend.

She sat right in the center of the common room so that when she got her revenge, everyone would see. It also helped because Anna would not be able to make up any excuses with everybody watching her.

Minutes passed, the clock ticked annoyingly and Aria was becoming aggravated, starting to rethink her revenge and change her roommates into some sort of reptiles during the night instead of what she had planned.

As she was about to leave, Madison strolled into the common room, Anna close behind her.

"Oh look, no one!" Anna sneered, sending a glare in Aria's direction.

Aria smirked. Now it was her turn. "Oh look, a mud-blood!"

All eyes in the common room darted towards the two girls. Half-bloods were shunned in Slytherin and that was Anna's biggest secret.

She gasped, her hand flying over her mouth as a few tears slipped out of her eyes and ran down her pink cheeks. "You promised!" She squealed, her hand balling into a fist at her side.

"What are you going to do? Punch me?" Aria egged her on. She knew very well that no one would lay a hand on her, Professor Snape wouldn't take kindly to that. "You suck at magic anyway!" She turned her head and pointed to her jaw. "Go on, sock me right here. Since you can't cast a spell to save your filthy muggle life. You shouldn't even be in Slytherin, let alone Hogwarts."

More tears fell from Anna's face as she raced past Aria, shoving her. "I can't believe you'd do this to me!"

A low buzz of mumbles could be heard and Aria noticed that a few people were smiling triumphantly, others did not seem too pleased with the previous display - obviously, the other blood traitors weren't happy.

"A mud-blood in Slytherin. What was that stupid hat thinking?" Malfoy chirped.

Aria smirked. Her plan had worked perfectly! She mentally checked Anna off of her To Hex list - humiliating her had been much more satisfying than cursing her would have been.

She headed to the stairs, planning to go and gloat when she was suddenly stopped by a hand on her shoulder. "You cruel girl! How could you do that to her!" Madison shoved her.

Aria shoved her back. "Mind your business!"

"It is my business. She's my best friend!"

"Your best friend?" Aria snapped, going red with fury.

"Yes, considering what you just pulled you snake!"

"Oh, I'm a snake, am I?" She whipped out her wand. "Vermiculus!"

A bright yellow light erupted from Aria's wand and hit Madison square on. When it was gone, Aria squinted to admire her handy work. The spell she had used was a very advanced Transfiguration charm used to turn somebody into a worm. Of course, seeing as she had barely paid attention in Transfiguration, the results were not perfect.

"Oops," Aria muttered, seeing a small-scale Madison on the floor with no legs. Instead, her bottom half was that of a worm.

"That is quite enough." Professor Carrow's stern voice came from the entrance.

Aria froze.

"Aria, give her to me." He demanded.

Aria reached down, picked the pint-sized Madison off of the floor, and walked over to the Professor, half ashamed, half proud.

He took her in his hand and stared down at her. "Your father will hear about this the next time I see him, I can promise you that. As for you, Miss Snape, detention for a week!"

"But-"

"Would you like me to make it for the rest of the year?" He stared down at her.

"No, Professor."

"Good." He turned his eyes to the rest of the common room. "Get to bed, everybody!"

Aria huffed to the stairs, glaring at anybody who even dared to look in her direction.

"Snape."

She turned to yell at whoever had stopped her. "What do you want, Malfoy?"

"How did you do that? That's like year seven magic!"

Aria rolled her eyes. "Being a pureblood has its benefits. I'm sure everyone here knows that and if they don't, then perhaps they shouldn't be in Slytherin. Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm going to bed."

And with that, Aria marched up the stairs to her room with a smug grin on her face. No one would dare mess with her after that.
