chapter four

"Well that didn't take you very long did it"
I could feel the contempt rolling off his tongue but I wasn't ready to get into with him.

"Kira do you know this guy."
There was some real menace behind Nick's words that I didn't know how to feel about.

" Let's just go Nick. For your information Ryan I don't jump into bed with everything that moves. Some of us has this thing call dignity, you should try it sometime."

I was really mad so I was glad when he followed me without question, or without making it seem like this was the first time we were talking.... Which it was but Ryan didn't need to know that.

"You wanna go get some ice cream? "

"Nah but thanks for covering for me I have a thing to do."

"A thing?" I could hear the laugh in his voice" if you don't wanna hang out all you had to do was say so"

" Yeah but you see that just doesn't seem to be in your vocabulary soo....."

I didn't want to get into a whole thing so I just left. It was still pretty early and I wasn't going to let one conversation ruin my day. I should have factored on the fact that Nick persistent as he was, would actually follow me.

" So where are we going "

" Well I am going to look for a quiet spot to do some studying. I don't know where you're going but have fun or whatever."

So that was a lie but I didn't want company.

just had this book that I was itching to finish and no it wasn't one of those oldies like the mockingbird or whatever. I found a spot under the trees and sat down. At this rate I would never have any time before class.

I was really deep into the book. Like I couldn't see how the girl was not able to know she had such power inside her for so long. But with the kind of mother she had grown up with  I could see how she had suppressed it.

"Ooh damn that girl had it rough didn't she"
I shrieked like a freaking banshee....

"Dude you don't sneak up on a person like that. I could have stabbed you or something!"

"Are you serious I have been seating here since you turned the first page. Are you trying to tell me you didn't know I was here all along. I can even the weird noises you're making as you go along. Besides what would you have stabbed me with your book."

Well I didn't need anyone reminding I made weird noises when reading a good book. It was why I wasn't allowed into the school library anymore...I get pretty enthusiastic when reading.

" Yeah well you subjected that on yourself I didn't invite you to sit with me soo that's on you."

I checked my phone I had about ten minutes to my first class and I didn't want to be tardy it was enough that I wasn't an A student. I got up and started walking away. I don't think I owed him an explanation.

"So you're just going to leave me here."

"Don't you have anywhere to be or anything to do. Why are you everywhere I turn like a security detail or something. I'm not even important enough for that shit."

"Well what if I am. What if I just like your snappy attitude. What are you going to do about it."

"Don't have friends you can annoy. I'm sure that are looking for you."

"You don't have to try so hard to get rid of me."

Now he made me feel like a jerk. I wasn't trying to be rude. I mean the guy had just saved me from an awkward conversation with Ryan. The least I could do was be grateful.

"Look I'm sorry I wasn't trying to be rude but I'm not very good with people as you can see. Thanks for having my back earlier I know you didn't have to. I have to get to class. See you around."

Before he had a chance to speak I took off. I hardly made it to class so it wasn't a surprise I had to sit at the very front. It was even worse when Ryan sat next to me.

"What the fuck are you doing here. This is not funny."

"I tried telling you...I switched schools so we could be together. I didn't think it would be like this."

"Yeah you should have thought of that before you hooked up with my roommate. And anyway you don't do this course so get out before the teacher gets here."

I didn't look but I felt him shift and soon after leave the room.

"Hey you weren't in the room when I got back. Why did you leave so early."

Wow this day just kept getting better and better. It's like I couldn't catch a break today.

I was done with my classes today and all I wanted to do was kick back on my bed ALONE. I had done
Enough talking for one day. I couldn't exactly kick her out of the room. She had as much right to be here as I did.

"Yeah i had something I had to take care of."

" Look I'm sorry I didn't know he was your boyfriend. I was just from dinner and he just walked up to me and started flirting with me. He didn't mention a girlfriend and you didn't show me a picture of him. If I had known he was your boyfriend I wouldn't have gone there."

" So that's why you asked if I was coming back early. You wanted to know if I was gonna be a problem."

I didn't know what to feel I didn't know how to react to that. Should I just forgive her. She was just as fooled as I was. I could feel the remorse in her voice but was it real.
